ND isn't interested in joining the BIG 10, the SEC, or any other conference. Notre Dame will remain Independent. Expanding the College Football Playoffs just makes too much sense in the future...

The ACC pays Notre Dame approximately $17 million annually as part of their unique arrangement where Notre Dame plays several football games as an ACC affiliate while keeping its football independence and massive NBC media deal (worth about $50M/year). This makes Notre Dame a partial member, getting conference revenue for non-football sports but keeping all its lucrative football income separate from the ACC's main pot, allowing them to keep 100% of College Football Playoff earnings too.
So they want to double dip in a higher paying conference? Screw that, I hope no other conference takes them and forces them to survive on football revenue on their own. It should be all or nothing.
They have a very high opinion of themselves……

Wellllll geographically, they are in SE Indiana. (Apparently not)
So they are southeast in a sense…(my bad)
I say take them. They and Texas A&M will REALLY get along.
Then we need another team. Or do we add 3 more and do pods? Big divisions? An inter-SEC playoff before the actual playoffs?
Sky is the limit.
Edit: geography is hard.

No deal. But they are more than welcome to independently schedule 9 SEC games a year. I’d love to take over their stadium like Georgia did

If you think Texas is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Absolutely not. Notre Dame has no business being in the SEC. None.

Look at a map. South Bend is in north central Indiana almost on the Michigan border.
We went to the Notre Dame game in 2017. South Bend people were nice to us but they definitely did not have Southern hospitality. Georgia fans would enjoy playing them again, to get revenge for last years game. Georgia is 3-1 against them.

By adding Notre Dame we could call them Yankees!

Big East?
Thats hilarious.
Let them beg a while before we reject them.

In your profile it has LA (Cali, not Louisiana) as your location - you need to get out of there before they mess you up even more!

As a Mizzou fan, Notre Dame in the Southeastern Conference would finally mean that y'all can't complain us being the misfits. So should I support this?
Also, Notre Dame to the SEC is never fricking happening.

My guess is this is simply a leverage play of some sort, that could benefit ND and the SEC in some way. What exactly? I’m not sure. Maybe something as simple as expanding the playoff.
However, I also know Sankey would definitely prefer ND not be a full-time member of the B1G, if he can help it. I think there’s a possibility (below 50%, but a possibility) that an arrangement could be made for 4 SEC games for ND in a season. ND could join the Big East (would be extremely surprised if ND Olympic sports would join the SEC) in all other sports - it’s a much better fit for ND than the ACC anyways, plus there’s clearly a bridge that’s been burned in the relationship. In addition to preventing ND from the B1G, would also guarantee two ND games in SEC stadiums each season.
So it’d be different than ND’s current football arrangement with the ACC that is predicated on being a member of all the other sports. But ND likely cannot maintain independence unless there’s some sort of agreement with a P4 conference on a minimum number of games. Again, I’d put it below 50% with the SEC, but it’s a possibility.

Notre Dame’s contract with nbc lasts through 2029.

Four years on a tv deal in the realignment game is absolutely nothing. That is not the factor that would prevent Notre Dame to the SEC. It's the other six thousand issues.

I'll take Notre Dame in all sports if we can kick out Mizzou.
