One defensive player said he isn’t impressed with Tagovailoa’s ball velocity or arm strength or ability to make off-schedule plays with his legs. So he ultimately questions whether Tagovailoa will ever be able to match the feats of other quarterbacks in the AFC such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson. “Those are the boys we got to beat, right?” this player said. “It looks right now like that’s going to be a big challenge.”

I mean, I'm not sure he will either. That's a high bar.

Gossip in the papers. Solid team culture there.

Somewhere Joe Montana and Drew Brees just started giggling.

Some guy said something and here is what he said. No, I am not going to tell you who it is, you will just have to trust me. I am a journalist.

I think his durability is more of a question mark than his arm.

please put these garbage nfl threads on the more sports board

also, putting an end to the 'your team's former player is horrible' threads would be good, too.

So maybe having the best receiving core in possibly CFB history and an elite RB and OLine makes an average QB look elite?

Weird.

I have said before that I kind of doubt Tua will ever be as good as he was his first year and half at Alabama, before the injuries started taking a toll, physical and mental.

all the injuries notwithstanding, he's the career leader in pass efficiency

LINK

Leaders
Since 1956

1 Tua Tagovailoa* 199.4 2017 2019 Alabama
2 Mac Jones* 197.6 2018 2020 Alabama

4 Justin Fields* 178.8 2018 2020 Ohio State
5 Sam Bradford* 175.6 2007 2009 Oklahoma
6 Baker Mayfield* 175.4 2013 2017 Oklahoma
7 Dwayne Haskins* 174 2017 2018 Ohio State
8 Joe Burrow* 172.4 2015 2019 LSU
9 Marcus Mariota* 171.8 2012 2014 Oregon
10 Tim Tebow* 170.8 2006 2009 Florida

edit to say I'm kind of surprised to see Trevor Lawrence as low as #19

Come on man. Clearly not. That’s why Tua and Mac are both gonna be 1st overall picks...

Why?

I don’t get the infatuation with TL. What stat, game, or other metric can people point to to make their case that he is the automatic #1 pick?

It didn't hurt. Nor did it hurt Mac Jones. Or Burrow.

Or any other QB for that matter.

I think we'll look back on the numbers Burrow, Mac, and Tua put up and see it more of a marker, the time when CFB was going through massive change. They executed, but I have a hard time believing we've seen the 3 best QBs to every play the game over the past 3 years on 2 teams.

It's nice that people are coming around to the truth. When I said it after Clemson beat Alabama in 2018, everyone said I was dumb and butthurt. But even in that game, I saw a total of 1 pass that I thought was the QB. The rest of it was scheming by Clemson and the abuse of Savion Smith.

And of course, when it comes to Tua, I've been off his bandwagon for awhile now. Alabama fans hate me for it, as they blame the defense for losing to LSU in 2019, but it was all Tua.

There is no vertical RPO in the NFL.

it depends so much on the team one plays with, but I think Lawrence will probably be a better NFL qb than Tua, Mac, Fields, or Burrow.

Yep. The game is extremely slanted towards the offenses right now, and I'm certain it's a product of that rather than just the best QBs ever.

It's a pattern that really started about 20 years ago. If you look at all time QB numbers, the top20 is pretty much all recent QBs.

I mean, this is just dumb. If there is one thing tua has, is arm strength/velocity. This sounds purely made up
