I remember the old days. . .when players wouldn't sell out their teammates for cheap media soundbytes
Good or bad, you have to have to have your teammates back....

So maybe having the best receiving core in possibly CFB history and an elite RB and OLine makes an average QB look elite?
It didn't hurt. Nor did it hurt Mac Jones. Or Burrow.
Or any other QB for that matter.
I think we'll look back on the numbers Burrow, Mac, and Tua put up and see it more of a marker, the time when CFB was going through massive change. They executed, but I have a hard time believing we've seen the 3 best QBs to every play the game over the past 3 years on 2 teams.
Time will tell.

Tua has pedestrian arm strength but is great with his vision and accuracy.
I really don't know what people think about arm strength. Most deep balls are about timing, not about arm strength. Tua has plenty of arm strength and some to spare when it comes to making those throws.
Take 2nd and 26 for example. That ball was thrown with some speed and hit Smith in stride. Without good arm strength, that play doesn't happen. Perfectly throw ball with plenty of power behind it.
Tua's problem is what people forget and what made it 2nd and 26 to start with. He took a 16 yard sack.

I still think Troy Aikman was an average QB. He had the best OL in league history (at that time) averaging about 300 lbs heavier than the DL's they faced.
And he was throwing to Novacek, Harper, and Irvin
OL makes all the difference.
Dolphins OL was playing really well with Tua back there, having gelled through the season. They should look great next year.
I still think Tua, if he sits a year, will light it up

I don’t get the infatuation with TL. What stat, game, or other metric can people point to to make their case that he is the automatic #1 pick?

Most deep balls are about timing, not about arm strength.
But Drew never had elite Arm Strength
Definitely NOT comparing Tua to the Brees, though.
Tua will be fine, if his body holds up. He just needs to work to get better. He was NOT ready for the field this year

this method of determining arm strength by frame counting 75 throws is pretty flawed, totally dependent on which 75 throws out of the many hundreds a qb threw were chosen for comparison. Is it taking into account tightness of throwing windows/route separation of each pass? No QB thats any good is throwing the ball as fast as they possibly can unless its actually appropriate for that actual pass/scenario, otherwise you are making the job of the WR needlessly difficult. You throw it as fast as you need to. Who knows what 75 passes were picked for any given qb is this comparison? Lots of problems with this method. All its shows is how fast a qb did throw, and a small subset of throws, not how fast they are capable of throwing. only way to get that data would be to have all of the QBs in the combine chuck at ball at maximum velocity over a chrono

I am of the opinion that most rookie QBs struggle and go through growing pains during that season.
Whether everyone in the locker room believes in Tua at the moment or just giving their opinion that he has to improve is a completely different issue. Most so called journalists just want to stir the pot without anything of significance or truth to validate what they publish.

edit to say I'm kind of surprised to see Trevor Lawrence as low as #19
Why? He has never lived up to his hype. Plays in a near-cupcake conference, and he has 4 and 5 stars all around him.
He should break every record in the book. Instead he has 3rd or 4th round stats.
