How the frick did FSU sign off on that?

He’s got to be at the top of the list of replacements

He was kind of a careful hire. Had gambling problems and FSU was the first to take him. Arkansas passed which was dumb

You know the old saying

“If you can’t get in the playoffs over them, join them.”

Half the Bama fans on here don't even remember before Saban got there so they don't know what it was like only being good every 3 year or so. They think they will just name a coach and they will come running and Bama will just keep rolling just because.

Well... prior to this season FSU had two losing seasons before one 10-3 mark. Many teams jump at a single good season and find out it was an outlier and regret it. Looks like FSU went the other way and may regret it.

In the same breath, you dumb twat burgers think Alabama is immediately going to fall back into the 6-6 range.

After Bryant and before Saban Bama was mostly a mediocre team.

Nah. Bama has enough talent that any average coach can come in and win 10 games next year. But in the position Bama is in, with a HC considered to be great and there for awhile, they bring in a guy who looks great on paper and for whatever reason he doesn't look great in year 2 or 3 and players and recruits will start to say that this isn't the Bama of old (Saban era) and they will jump ship or look away and it could lead to a rough time. Then that with Bama fans expectations they would be going through coaches and players left and right. Before long they would be just a once every now and then good team like everyone else.

They will never drop to a Vandy level but they can easily end up like all the bigger schools that have good runs and then are only relevant occasionally. Examples more recent (since 1990) are USC, FSU, Florida, and Clemson.

Norvell would be a heck of a hire IMO.

Remember when Osborne left Nebraska? They never recovered. That's what Bama has now.

Except Bama has the experience of actually replacing a greatest coach of all time previously.

I can’t stress enough how awful of an idea it would be for Lanning to leave Oregon. As an Oregon resident people are so much more relaxed (he won’t age 50 years with the Bama job), Eugene is great, and his facilities are world class. They also run the west coast now.

Norvell makes so much more sense and would be a grand slam.
