For those who care about academics, adding UVA, UNC, Texas and even Clemson to a lesser degree to the SEC would be an incredible profile and research boost.

Florida State and Clemson (maybe even NCSU and VA Tech) are cultural fits. UNC, UVA, and Miami are not. But, Clemson really doesn’t bring a ton of value. You already have South Carolina in there which isn’t a very big state.
I think there is more going on behind the scenes than any of us realize. I think Fox has asked B1G to try to get Notre Dame and Clemson. I say this based on conversations with Ohio State people, I live in Ohio and several claimed to have info on this. JC Schurlburt (spelling?) a South Carolina insider reported this interest last week. Clemson would rather be in the SEC so I think they are trying to work with the SEC on an acceptable group to come in the SEC. ESPN does not want Clemson or FSU to go to Fox/B1G. Clemson and FSU have voted similar and had similar interests for years. I suspect the SEC wanted North Carolina and Virginia to add new states and to try to keep B1G out of the Southeast.
There are things going on behind the scenes that we will find out about years from now.

The issue the SEC currently has is that there are no good "free" teams to pick up in B1G country while there are a number of teams in SEC country. Could see SEC taking both Florida teams plus Clemson just to keep the B1G out of Florida and SC

Ole Miss is just as good if not better than UVA

I get your point, but I also see the appeal of having one of America's most prestigious public schools in the conference, more science based and career oriented.
I would say Virginia Tech is more prestigious, larger engineering program.
UVA is basically a liberal arts college with a bunch of woke professors at the undergrad level.

Are you really going to put stock in a “reporter “ who’s main credentials are a swimming blog? You’re better than that!

you are just parroting the US News rankings, not thinking for yourself.
Va Tech has one of the highest percentage of students majoring in STEM programs. LINK

Possessive contraction. Ie
Who’s there
Who’s on first
Who’s the boss
Three examples should satisfy your thirst for bad grammar

Plenty of libtards have infested the SEC at current schools... Auburn has some real lefty lunatics employed that have been in the news...as I'm sure they all do. If you escape college with common sense still intact, that's your greatest accomplishment at any school.

Also he says ESPN is trying to void their ACC deal - which makes no sense. It's a sweat heart deal for ESPN, they are woefully underpaying the ACC for their rights.
Correct but the ratings are shite.
If viewers aren't there the deal isn't worth it

I don’t believe it. The GOR for acc runs till 2036. If they are paid by the SEC then that money goes to the teams that stayed in the acc for the next 14 years.........you can not avoid this unless the conference is dissolved....
By contrast the PAC GOR expires 2024 and the Big 12 is about the same....
