That picture is funny but it really gets good when you read the titles of the books Franklin is carrying. It's like he cleaned out the self-help aisle at Barnes and Noble. He's even got a Kevin Trudeau book on top.

Put me in the camp of "if he hadn't coached at AU before nobody would be upset by this."

I mean, Mazzone is definitely not terrible. He's just pretty meh. Malzahn needs a little more than meh right I'd think, but Steele was meh and he did a great job.......so who knows.

If this happens and a member of this board doesn't do a Mexican guy laughing YouTube video for this... Obama wins.

I think most people who watch football agree both are average offensive coaches.

Yea, I'd take Mazzone over Spatival in a heartbeat. Spatival was awful. Mazzone isn't anything fancy but he at least seems to generally understand mapping out a play sheet, understanding how to call drives and how they fit into the concept of the game at large. Spatival seemed to just throw shite at the wall in random situations with no rhyme or reason.

I don't think either are very good. All this talk of AU wanting to swing big and Mazzone is the name they come up with. That's the most Auburn thing ever.

That is really what the main headline will be, he could do very well at Auburn. I think many just expected a "sexier" pick.

I agree it's not an earth shattering hire if it happens (although it probably will be for big $$$, which should increase the melt). I'd probably prefer someone else.

But, some people, myself included, have a knee jerk reaction because of his time under CTT, and that just really has no bearing on what he's been doing at major programs in recent years.

He has done better than Spav. But was still not good enough. If Auburn really picks him up, they will officially become Sloppy Second U. All those transfer players dismissed from other universities, Kevin Steele, and now potentially Mazonne.

Is this seriously the best AU can pull right now?

Who the hell is making these decisions over there? CGM should be going after home run OC's and offering them the bank to come coach for him. He needs to get his shite straight or he is out of there at the end of the year.
