I always Find it’s crazy that the people who pretend they don’t care about athlete’s opinions are also the ones who want to stop watching football becaus athletes have opinion.
Clearly they care and don’t like them.
Personally, when the whistle blows football is football and I’m probably gonna watch it.

The upvote/downvote ratio of the OP seems to support his claim. Before, 100% of posters here were united by love for the sport. Now, they are divided into halves.

Weird. The tv ratings for CFB have never been better. Seems it's growing in popularity.

My first instinct is to disagree, but as I and everyone Mizzou fan can affirm, we still have a solid 10-15% of our fanbase that have completely stopped supporting Mizzou and therein college athletics since the 2015 debacle.
If your schools do the same foolish SJW surrender our precious/now fired administration did you will experience the same exodus.
My cousin was a top tier donor, flew to all home and away games and he has literally not watched one second or given a cent to the university since 2015. Some came back when the admin was fired, some might come back now that the entire team is gone, but most of that group forever died on that hill. Learn from us. MIZ...

It is and I’m done with it. I really don’t give a shite about the NFL or college football now. Let it all come crashing down .

I remember something CM Newton said at Kentucky when he was AD. "It's not a black and white issue. It's a blue and white issue."
I will always bleed blue.
I will always bleed blue.

I know the OP is getting downvoted, but I think it's a valid point.
I'm in my 50's, and used to be a rabid sports fan across the board. NBA was very high on the watchlist. I grew up watching the Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, but paid close attention to all the teams. And this was pre-Jordan, mind you.
I haven't cared about the NBA in years, been at least 3 seasons since I watched any, and longer since I've watched an entire game.
College basketball, much the same. Huge fan in the 80's; yeah LSU was good, but I could name half the rosters in the Big East and ACC, I remember the early mid-majors (VCU, UAB) that would make the tourney and give name teams trouble, etc. I just don't get into it that much anymore; when LSU perked up I watched more, but I couldn't tell you who would be All American, much less who might be star players on individual teams like I used to.
Football is still hanging on, I could probably still sit down with somebody at a bar (jeez I wish ) and discuss rosters and matchups. But the NFL has been chipping away with all the little rule changes, from the XP to onside kicks to OT. Note- if it ain't broke (and it wasn't), don't mess with it.
I'm still a Saints diehard, but the whole drama between Thomas et al and Brees has saddened and disgusted me. I don't watch for politics to be shoved in my face, I want football. I'll vote the way I want, not how some millionaire tells me to.
I guess we're all just a bit tired and stressed out right now. I miss the days when everyone on MY team was on MY SIDE, and everyone else was the opponent. The more we get people bitching on media, the more that seems to be changing.

No it isn't. People that disagree with the political movements bitch, piss and moan and then their team does great and they shut the frick up.
Take for instance the Saints a few years ago. Everyone was cancelling their tickets because of the "take a knee" stuff. Then they (fans and club) bragged about all the sellout stadiums (in more ways than one).
Then their was the quite famous and glorious "no call" and all the fans were again cancelling their tickets because the NFL is rigged and yadda yadda yadda. Still, sellouts in the SuperDome for home games.
So no. People will always crave sports. There may have been quite a few hundred or even a few thousand that cancelled but in the wings was a few more thousand+. People merely claim they'll do these "righteous" acts and then whenever they're team is good, they SHUT THE frick UP AND WATCH.

As an example, I'm sure there are many here on tRant who would prefer to never see politics on this board. It doesn't mean they hate anyone, or even disagree. Sometimes, like in sports as a whole, it's just not perceived to be the proper place for such impassioned stances or even discussions related to those particular topics.
It's ridiculous that we visit this board and see this non-stop shite posting. And a large majority of it's coming from a damn GaTech/ACC poster.

Pretty much. The irony is they didn't like Kap to do what he did cause they didn't like the message. Same people with that message of "shut up and dribble". However, if Drew Brees makes a statement that does agree with views, then "isn't he allowed to speak his mind, he's human, right?!"
Same side calling the other side snowflakes, yet, melt when someone laughs at them for slipping down a podium walk or not being able to drink water like a grown man.
The irony is from both sides, just right now the far right is the ones melting so I find them the most comical at the moment. But good news, just like the other night's rally, they CLEARLY sell out all their events.

Current political extremism impacting college sports is, in my opinion, a contagion that will destroy the popularity, fun, and passion for collegiate & pro sports. Attitudes born of this protest era go too far and will make many people (like me) walk away from college and pro football altogether. It really is that simple.

In all likelihood the only Millionaire that's ever told you which way to vote is DJ Trumpf the bunker bitch himself
Kneeling in peaceful protest isn't throwing anything up in your face, marching with signs in front of your home now that's throwing stuff up in your face

The harsh truth is everyone on your Team was never on your side, you just fantasized it all
Now that reality has smacked you in the face, you're angry because your fantasy world has been exposed
Welcome to the real world, YOUR TEAM was never on your side on these types of issues, you mistakenly interpreted their silence to mean they agreed with you on these types of issues

I have never contacted any Athlete at any SEC school, so where did all these Athletes at multiple SEC Schools get these ideas from, just maybe they are thinking, feeling, humans, just maybe?
BTW, I'm a CFB Fan, you see a real FAN can understand if things surrounding the Game evolves, I'm not sure the outdated, "shut up and play & deal with our rebel flags" genre of CFB fan is a real fan to start with, they are only fans as long as CFB stays in a very narrow lane, any type of progress or evolution and then they wanna act like the original bunker bitch and take their fandom and head for home
Goodbye and good riddance to whiny arse pathetic wusses that were never real fans to begin with

And let's be 100% clear on something- these guys are entertainers. Sports is entertainment. They contribute absolutely nothing vital to society, other then to keep us relaxed and distracted/happy. For that, they make millions.
When they cease to entertain, they become, frankly, worthless to me.
I'm not alone in this viewpoint, btw. Once upon a time, professional boxing was just as big as any of the major pro leagues, and now it isn't. Different reasons, same potential outcome. It's faded away, to a large part.
You seem to say "sports is a fantasy" like you're trying to insult me. That's dumb; of course it's a fantasy. It is for every fan. That's the point of spectator sports.
