How about coaches "small of stature" as they say. You know, little people. Dwarves. Midgets. Think Tom Cruise, but even shorter.
Not a single damn coach in college or pro under four feet tall. And I say, that's wrong.

And how many of those keep getting other opportunities even after they have proven that are not that level coach? Jesus, just look at the recycled NFL coaches.

Yeah it's a problem, considering the sport would cease to exist without black athletes. Good thing Maryland doesn't have this problem.

In 2004 Saban rolled Crooms Miss St team 51-0 with a final yardage tally of 599-130. That dude was horrible lol.
He had one decent season in 2007 but it was largely due to Ellis Johnson’s defense because Crooms offense was atrocious

Alabama has that covered

Remember when they said it was racist to float Mike Tomlin’s name for the LSU or USC job because it’s racist to make a black N.F.L. coach be a college football coach.
It’s racist when you don’t hire black coaches and it’s racist when you try to hire black coaches.
It’s racist when you don’t hire black coaches and it’s racist when you try to hire black coaches.

Well that’s not true. It existed for a long time without them
Being a good player doesn’t mean you’ll be a good coach. Playing the game and coaching the game isn’t close to the same thing. Especially at the college level.

After Jalen Hurts wins a few Super Bowls. He will retire from the NFL and come coach at Alabama and win some SEC and National Championships. At least that’s what I would love to think.

There’s also a shortage of offensive line coaches being hired as head coaches. These days one has to be a coordinator or rising head coach to get a chance at a major hc job.
We at Arkansas are doing our part to reverse this injustice and perhaps open the door for the downtrodden assistants out there. We are blazing a bold new trail for those who are forgotten…..

They get hired. They don't perform. They get fired just like white head coaches. Franklin did miracles at Vandy and got an upgrade. Mason ran it into the ground and got fired. Sumlin flamed out and got fired too. It all comes down to W-L.

Some people, like Ryan Clark, believe that a HC should be hired based on that and if the HC fails then it's on the players... not the coach.

Coach Croom could have been Coach Saban at Alabama but was not given a chance because he was black

It's gonna be harder to be a HC in the SEC because the SEC is in a position to cherry-pick the rest of the country's top HC's. Most of the HC's in the conference were stolen away when they had success elsewhere.
So I say the problem is the rest of the country not hiring the right BHC's. If they weren't so damned racist maybe there would be more in the SEC, the ignorant hate-filled b*stards.

Dude, I loved Croom as a person and man of character, but we totally sucked during his time. He hired Woody McCorvey as OC and despite our offense unable to score (SEE game vs Maine , most embarrassing loss in school history) he just refused to hire a proven OC. I'm not saying he hired McCorvey because he was also black but I do think he was so loyal that he refused to replace him even when it was obvious we couldn't move the ball on a high school team.

Croom and Danny Ford were both from the Bear system and neither did well in the SEC and both were fired. The treatment was the same, we fired Ford And MSU fired Croom. What’s the difference in treatment?

Forget this black head coaches shite the bigger problem is that white players aren't getting enough opportunities. This country is 70% white why in the hell is the football teams in this country more representative of that.
Tell you what when I am the head of the NCAA I will make sure that the 13% black population get their ratio of black head coaches whether they deserve it or not.
Then I will make sure that that the 70% white population get their 70% ratio of white players whether they deserve it or not.
I mean hell fairs is fair right.

Both of them work instead of bitching about how society sets them up for failure.

This is a non issue these days. Coach Croom is a great man and coach and I loved what he did at State. The record did not show it but he put the State program on solid footing and we are still benefiting from that today.
The fact that there no black HC’s in the SEC is an outlier today. There is no stigma anymore and there will be black HC’s again in the conference soon enough. It will evolve and continue to get better.
When I was a youngster nobody thought a black kid could be a QB. But that changed over time and now it is no big deal what color if skin the QB is. It will be the same with Head Coaches. It is still evolving but you will see more coordinators and head coaches in the years ahead and no one will care if they are black, white, Asian, Hispanic etc.
I have great respect for Coach Croom but I disagree with his assessment here. I greatly appreciate him being a pioneer in the SEC for black coaches.
