Yes, it will fix the potential chance that all power 5 teams have an undefeated champion and one gets left out

I guess it could happen, but I don't think there has ever been 5 undefeated teams at the end of a regular season, has there?

I honestly do think the things Saban advocates for are for what he feels is right for the game

I agree.

It comes off as ironic though sometimes because of his situation.

That's fair to say. Bit, it is his job to try to take his team as far as they can possibly go. Alabama pays him a lot of money to do that. He does everything he can within the rules to get his team into the playoffs as he should.

Which won't change if we expand the playoff. People will find a way to bitch and moan.

The more teams that make it into a playoff...the less the regular season means. We will end up having 2 and 3 loss teams making the playoffs easily. (2 loss teams will be common)

Not only that, but then you start pushing the schedule to 16, 17, and 18 games possibly in the future. That's a long season for a student athlete.

On top of that, I don't know if my blood pressure can handle a season that long

That's the thing. Going from the BCS to the CFP didn't really change the regular season that much. Opening things up to where a team could have a 3rd loss and still have a shot at a national championship will really change the importance of the regular season.

That and they really can't extend the season any further. It would be like the NFL with a championship game in February and all the crazy travel. It seems too long for a student athlete.

OSU/Iowa was in November but thanks for playing

Oh, that’s right. Ohio State lost by 5 touchdowns to an unranked team in November, and still felt like they were jilted when they were left out of the playoff. I forgot all about that.

And the same number of National Championships in that one undefeated season as Auburn has won in the last 60 years. Amazing.

Are we back to making up Saban quotes again?

I would think they would drop a regular season game before letting that happen. That's another reason I don't think it will ever go to 8 teams. Too many teams that do not make the playoffs would lose a game of revenue.

Absolutely. They might go to six teams, but I don't see that, either. Honestly, the system as it is now does a good job of getting the bet teams into the playoffs.

Personally, I just think there are way too many teams to do a proper playoff. Or at least to do one that everyone is happy with.

Do you assholes wake up in the morning wondering what Nick Saban had to say about anything so that you can pick it apart and turn it into something that it isn’t?
Is discrediting him that important to you?

I think on paper that sounds like it makes things nice & neat, but like I said above, then you get into the mess of who gets the bye and who gets home field advantage in the first round.

If we go to 6, suddenly how #2 & #3 are ranked becomes a big deal.

Like in 2009? Or was that the year we went undefeated and kicked the dog shite out of Texas? I can’t remember.

That was a 3 point game with 3 minutes left. Be humble.

Agreed

Right now, everything matters.
Scheduling OOC
Stength of conference
Building a resume'

Adding to the playoff takes away from all of that.

I think arguing over who gets a bye, is less of a grievance than arguing they should have been in/not in

6 is the best situation IMHO

Not perfect, but the best

That's because they have a legitimate playoff system in place.

Tell that to the bubble teams that get left out of March Madness...they pick 68 teams and, every year, people whine and moan 'bout being left out...

Like I said. I don't think it happens.

#1 and #2 get the bye....but I am guessing you mean a squabble over the #1 and #2 teams?

who gets home field advantage in the first round.
No home field advantage. Handle ti the way they do now. Use the Bowls.

Like I said, though. I don't think it happens, and I don't think it should. It is working just fine. I think the best team in the nation has won the playoffs every year.....except last year, of course.
