Nick Saban is not only one of the top 3-4 coaches in all of sports in all of history, but also one of the top 3-4 human beings in history.

My God I love that man.

Who wears the Sabah mask in bed, you or him?

And Sabah was a notorious jerk in Baton Rouge. He walked over a player having a seizure in Miami. I don’t think he became better in Tuscaloosa.

Oh my gosh that is rumor perpetuated by the LSU fan base who can’t get over he told them to frick OFF

To the LSU administrators, fans, and unwashed Baton Rouge residents who he later told to frick OFF when he could no longer take their backwards ways and weird and awkward customs

“As it turns out, what I learned from that experience in hindsight was, it was a huge mistake to leave college football,” Saban told the USA Today Network in a recently revisited interview. “And I know a lot of LSU fans think I left for whatever reasons, but I left because I wanted to be a pro coach, or thought I wanted to be a pro coach. We loved LSU. We worked hard to build the program. If there was one thing professionally that I would do over again, it would’ve been not to leave LSU.

cajunbama has some kind of weird inferiority complex to LSU fans.

I guess its something to do with marrying into an LSU family and living in Louisiana thru the GOAT season while subsequently watching his team tumble to the depths of despair.

Now he wanders around aimlessly, eyes empty, thousand yard stare. The PTSD is clearly evident as he blankly looks at you, a trace of spittle slides down his face as he mutters, "#insecureLSU."

The nurses aide corrals him, whisking him off to change his soiled diaper and the room again becomes quiet as a tomb.

Maybe he finished his eligibility in 1931, but for some reason many GT Folks thought he never finished Tennessee

If a team passes on a more talented minority coach, then the team loses the benefit that that coach would have brought and gets to suffer with a less talented coach; and, another team gets the benefit

Except that more talented minority coach is still having a harder time getting someone to hire him as a HC.

I don’t know why people think 13% of the population should hold the majority of top positions in any industry.

This isn't hard. When 13% of the population gets 70% of the playing time at the major college and professional level, and still can't get more than 13% of the head coaching positions, people are going to ask why.

Being a good player isn't directly congruent with being a good coach.

No shite.

But out of the tens of thousands (extremely conservative estimate) of players that have played at the highest levels, and the hundreds/thousands of those that go into coaching, only ~18 can get a HC gig in the NFL/NCAA FBS?

Correct it does not GUARANTEE that, but I find it amazing that every white backup has "intangibles" and is a gym rat, and is a "student of the Game" and talked strategy & playcalls with his HS Coach Dad over every meal, and that's why they make great HCs but with all the Black back ups, none of the above is true, and none of the above is ever spouted by the Media & broadcasters

TBH, the way the Media describes Athletes on the Field starts the entire process of bias in the Game that leads all the way to the HCs Office

No matter how much film and Prep work that a Black Athlete puts in the broadcasters rarely mention that aspect of the Black Athlete and will describe him as a "Natural Athlete" or "Born to play this game", this type of broadcasting plants the seed in the minds of many that everything the white guy got is due to hard work and that everything the Black guy got is because he hit the "genetic lottery" and just stumbled into Athletic greatness

By falsely creating the narrative that the white guy worked hard for everything and the Black guy just lucked into his gifts, many decision makers default to the safe hire and hire the gritty hard working guy, a guy like Muschamp, in many cases Black candidates don't even make it to the finalist round

How is it not true? You telling me over the last 40 years, there have been fewer than 100 FCS/NFL players that have gone into coaching?

I've watched a lot of football and I've never heard anything like you described.

Of course, I'm not looking to make everything racially motivated either.
