Saban was denied entry to the service since he was deemed too short for service.

Find a link to that. Saban is 5' 6" tall, that was NOT too short to be drafted during the Viet Nam war.

evaded service in Vietnam

You're a poor student of history. Saban is 68. He had a student deferment for his first year of college. The lottery started in late 1969 and he wasn't a part of the initial lottery because of his age. The second lottery was in 1970. These were randomly assigned numbers and it determined who was called. Maybe he had a good lottery number.
My lottery number was in the mid 150s in first (1969) lottery and I was never called. Does that make me a dodger?

The point isn't not serving, it's about draft dodging.

Are you defending Trump's draft dodging?

False.. it wasn't until 68 when deferments ignored college... that's when the Sabans of the World evaded and protested

Not true... look up deferments timelines...notice correlation between less deferments and more protests..

Everything is Trumps fault...poor girl... life ain't that hard..

This thread is about Saban being scared to serve... that's it... not about Bruce Springsteen's bad knee or your Moms lack of hygiene.. it's about scared Saban

Interestingly there were a lot of guys in college who got drafted but didnt ask for a deferment and served instead

They were called MEN. They had honor and a sense of duty. Something millennials have no idea about.

not true, i was in college during the Vietnam war and i was not on any draft board. I joined in 1968 and went to Vietnam in 69 and 70.

You most certainly could be drafted from college during the Vietnam war. College got you out up to 1965, after that only those performing well in school got passed over.

Having said that, thank you for what you did. My father did the same thing. He was in college, married with a child (me) and another on the way when he left school to enlist. He was in country when my sister was born in April 1969. You guys are real American heroes.

Anyhow, in regards to the OP’s troll attempt, Saban would have first been draft eligible in 1971 but the odds of him getting inducted were very low. Only 94,000 draftees were inducted that year (down from an average of about 250,000 each year 65-69). Less than 50,000 were inducted the next year (72) and Nixon decreed no draftees wold be sent to Vietnam.

So, OP is a lying idiot.

You know Bush flew F-102s and F-102s flown by ANG pilots served in country for almost the entire duration of the war, right?

Of course you did. No way you would simply parrot factually and demonstrably incorrect political talking points.

True. But, when the lottery went into place, educational deferments to the age of 24 were allowed for to all enrolled (before Sept '71) and in good standing. So, even if he hadn't been "lucky" and was age eligible, he would have been deferred like 1000s of others enrolled in college.

Saban was in school from '70-'75 between his undergrad and master's degree.

Hold on. There is shame or cowardice associated with serving in the Air National Guard?

Since when, and according to???

Kenyan Cavalry.

Here we see Colonel B. Hussein Obama preparing to lead his Kenyan Cavalry unit in an attack on America.
