He sure is. I was just saying he's rolling around in all of that A&M buyout to decide his coaching future.

I don't know what Jimbo really offers a team anymore.

He was a good recruiter but he's basically Les Miles 2.0. All of his success was a long time ago and his offensive scheme sucks.

Yeah, that’s a valid point. Jimbo seems to be stuck in his ways and not adapt or get out of his own way.

Mack Brown was pretty accomplished even without VY.

Saban will never coach at college D1 level again. Even if we went back to old system he would have the same trouble getting quality coaches to sign up due to his age. I honestly would not be surprised to see Kirby move on from CFB if things don’t change. He sounds fed up with it too. Why would any successful CFB coach who could get an opportunity to coach NFL stay in CFB at this point in time.

They’ve all got more money than their grandkids will spend and post 60 you tend to have less energy for the grind. You have some Pitinos and Bill Snyders but most guys are done by their age. That age group coach doesn’t relate to this NIL free agent world. It’s a young man’s game.

Saban also appears to be a relatively healthy, young 73 with a solid second act as a pitchman and analyst.

I recall reading at some point that Paterno resisted leaving because he’d seen Bear Bryant retire and die. Which then basically happened to Paterno.

I think Saban is active enough to not worry about that.

Fisher is only 59. That surprised me. I totally get not calling it quits at that age. Retirement—total retirement—can age you. With his money I’d buy a boat and start a deep sea fishing business or something though.

He's got a couple ranches, so he can stay occupied with that. According to Texags fan theory, he was pretty occupied with his ranching and family back in WV even while he was coaching.

Why would any of those guys want to put in the kind of hours required of a CFB coach these days?

You can only play so many rounds of golf before you get bored. I have a friend who retired at a relatively young age after making a shite ton of money. He returned to work in less than two years. Those were his exact words to me.

Great recruiter. No doubt about it.

I see Jimbo replacing Brian Kelly at LSU and winning his second national championship.

Thought for sure Jimbo would end up at West Virginia.

Not sure if he'll coach again but he's the only one in that bunch where there is realistic potential.

Why would they?

It sucks to be a HC in today’s game …. no loyalty, no honor

Saban: No, he's old and has had his run. He left the game because he doesn't want to deal with NIL, and he has nothing left to prove after winning seven titles.
Brown: No, he's also old. His teams also haven't won a bowl game since 2019.
Urban Meyer: I think this one is the most likely of the bunch you named. He's only 60 years old, has three national championships at two schools, and could go to a mid-tier P4 school and do some damage. Question will be if he's gotten over his habit of putting his thumb up girls' butts.
Jimbo Fisher: I could also see Jimbo returning to the college ranks since he's only 59 years old, but long gone are the days where Jimbo is considered an elite, even good coach.

I think it is doubtful that any of them will ever coach again. Being a tv commentator or so me other media role, maybe.

if saban successfully rigs shite so it isn't so easy for bama's 4th stringers to transfer and start immediately somewhere else, he'll go back to coaching

Imagine thinking that Nick Saban is what has been holding back Missouri football.

Imagine thinking that was what he was saying in that post. The reading comprehension on this board never ceases to amaze.
