any coach can have winning seasons with nothing but 5 star recruits. give Saban 3 star recruits and see how good he really is.

Not really, However LSU fans that have a midget man crush is something that perhaps could drive a person insane.

Some of our best players under Coach Saban have been 3* recruits. Do you know why that is? Because Nick Saban knows more about evaluating talent than the 'recruiting gurus' most of which not only never played football but never played sports at any level period.

Isn't getting 5* talent a reflection of how good he really is?

As CNS told Mal Moore on the third weekend into the fall of 2007:
quote:
“Do you think you’ve hired the best coach in the country?” the 55-year-old Saban asked Moore.
“Why, Nick, of course I do,” Moore said, while thinking to himself: For $4 million a year, I sure as hell hope so.
“Well, you didn’t—I’m nothing without my players,” Saban said, locking eyes with Moore. “But you did just hire a helluva recruiter.”
It's easy to recruit when you are rebuilding and can promise early playing time. It is much more work to sustain a decade's worth of top classes where you have to focus on players willing to compete and wait their turn.
That is why he is the best.
ETA: well, that and the cheap dodge charger connection

Also, he won a national championship and went undefeated with a roster that was a majority of 3 stars and 1 5-star in the starting lineup in 2009.

Saban would think you are so simple. He said he is nothing without his players. What makes this point of yours so dumb is that saban and the services both agree saban signs the best classes. This means they both largely agree on who the best recruits are. Plus, Most of his best players have been highly rated, and were then drafted high. You can't trash the recruiting services and praise saban at the same time.

That's a fact.
Doesn't mean I like to start threads about it though.
Best analogy I've read all day.

Sorry but that 14-0 season with a bunch of 3* players (and one 5*) says otherwise.

serious question for you fans of other teams not named Alabama in the SEC ... what is it like to wake up Saturday morning when you have to play Bama, knowing that at the baseline you have only about 20% chance of winning
Pisses me off that Saban resurrected an undeserving bunch of rednecks.
Feel better?

quote:That speaks volumes for Auburn's program.
Saban has never beaten an Auburn team that has won 9 games. He is 0-7.
Auburn's three biggest rivals are UGA/UA/LSU and their record vs those teams over the last decade sits at 9-21.
But by all means, please brag about Nick Saban never beating and AU team with 9 wins.
