If the show truly violates copyright laws, it doesn't matter what school it was. Lebron's people would do something about it.

We can sit here all day demanding proof to support a theory.

I'm telling you LeBron would be more likely to sit down and helps Urbs and Ohio State than any other program. They are the exception.

I think most agree LeBron is a one of the best to ever play but at the same time shite like this is why most everyone is ready for him to retire and GTFO.

LOL at trying to copyright sitting around talking at the barber shop.

Kind of like trying to copyright an A or a drawing of a red helmet or jersey.

Or going after a bakery for putting an A on their cupcakes.

That is ridiculous but not the same realm of what we are talking about.

One is the defense of a symbol/logo, the other the defense of a concept creation.

The Bama show should just change the name to "Talking Shop" and move on, no big deal.

Yes, the manuvering is normal. The general idea of most of modern day IP law is the joke.

I mean, from my limited understanding of the law regarding IP I think some slight modification for current times is needed. I wouldn't say the entire law is a joke

I would think Lebron was wronged if say Charles Barkley started a basketball focused barbershop talk show and made $ off it. It clearly was Lebron's idea that Barkley copied

I'd be careful criticizing Bama for this. Auburn is just as intense about enforcing their claims, they just are better about keeping it out of the news. Pretty sure it is required to strictly enforce your claims to protect the integrity of your claim

Also, what the bakery was doing was clearly wrong. They were trying to profit by stealing someone else's brand/image. Just because it isn't tangible property you can hold doesn't make it any less theft

The term triggered is for faux outrage, like a vegan throwing a fit over seeing someone eat a steak. Or the gif of the chick screaming "why!!!" when Trump was elected.

Not copyright infringement. It loses it's impact when it's incessantly used incorrectly. All i'm sayin'.

+1
I promise you Gigi's Cupcakes in Auburn isn't using that AU logo in her shop. (Her chocolate/salted caramel cupcakes are to die for.)

I don't even like Lebron...but the ratings for Cavs games do not support this theory, at all.

he's the most popular athlete in the US and arguably top 3 in the world.

After his talk with Saban Lebron will end up wearing an Alabama hat to cover his hairline on the next episode of “Uninterupted.”

I can see a better case for the concept creation, since it is similar to music copyright. The school being a tax supported entity. it looks bad for them to go after the little man. It would be like the Government going after anyone that has Army, Navy or AF merchandise sold by vendors.

That is because they do not want to go thru what they did to the woman in T-town. AU has NOT gone after anyone for that issue, but the fear is still their for the merchants.

The one place Auburn does a much better job than Bama is with seemingly looser standards to identify "art" which would fall outside IP claims.

Basically, Bama seems to regularly sue people like Daniel Moore while Auburn doesn't

I think a very large portion of what has been extrapolated and tweaked in the IP law realm in the last 10-20 years is detrimental to our economy as a whole. It very much favors large organisations and companies that are able and willing to pressure and cover expenses for IP lawsuits and arbitration that can sit around for years without conclusion, bleeding a smaller company dry.

None of that has much to do with this specific instance as both are behemouths.
