NFL scouts don't have too much respect for Clemson HC Dabo Swinney; check this out...

NFL scouts appear to be annoyed with Dabo and how he pompously pumps up his players and how great they are. This particular comment below from one NFL scout is especially blistering.
Ouch!

Ouch!

We all know that type of person, and we all feel the same way about that type of person.

On the one hand, he is trying to help his players.
On the other hand, if you cry wolf over and over then when you actually do have a diamond in the rough kid who bloomed late nobody is going to believe it because you said that Kirk Herbstreit's kid would actually be a great #3 NFL WR the year before.

Let me guess, said pro scout is “anonymous”

Dabo's cheesy as hell, but he's selling his program and players. NFL scouts know what's what, they don't have to be sold anything.

Ummm i think Dabo is over the top but in this case I think it has to be good to play for a guy that is 100% in for you.

On a micro scale, sure. But if a coach/program develops a reputation of being unreliable in their information pre-draft then it taints all players coming out for future classes. NFL teams are in the business of knowing who they’re investing in, both pros and cons. If you can’t be honest about who a kid is including their flaws then you’re doing everyone a disservice

Dabo is the Michael Scott of college football.

It's a disservice to players to lie about them to NFL scouts because then NFL scouts stop trusting you and it trickles down to screwing over players who deserve praise. You don't want your head coach to have the reputation of blowing smoke to NFL execs. You want them to be credible so that if a player does need a boost, they'll trust the coach

Scouts don't need a cheerleader. At this point in the draft, they want the intimate truth. If they are dealing with character flaws or just need to know more about a player's practice habits Dabo is hurting the guys that are doing a good job by failing to separate the others who aren't.

Sounds like Dabo is just wants the best for his players. If a scout is told something by Dabo and they believe it and don't do their homework then that's on them. It's not his job to scout for them.

I'm just saying pro scouts know what's what and Dabo's sales pitch may not matter one way or the other at the end of the day.
As it relates to work ethic and character issues, I can see where scouts would want the unvarnished truth about a player. From a strictly performance-based assessment, scouts can overlook Dabo's salesmanship because it won't sway a scout.

Why is it a college coaches job to tell the scout anything? Again Dabo or any coach should be looking out for the kid.
