I mean...there are worse things than a coach trying to sell his player to an employer. The scouts job is too wade through the bs and make an educated decision based on sight along with interviews

I’m not sure thats the scouts point

Sounds to me he is saying dabo as created an environment for his players where they are coddled and do not take accountability

This is not a problem for some of the freakish athletes they get when it comes to getting drafted. But it may become an issue when evaluating those borderline guys or when a team is evaluating multiple players for a pick. Whether it’s fair or not, whether it’s Clemson or not, Certain programs do develop reputations amongst scouts and general managers that can negatively affect a teams desire to want to draft guys from a certain schools

It's bad business.

Imagine someone trying to sell you worthless stock. You'd go broke in a hurry listening to the guy.

Fiduciaries don't do it so, it's safe to say that Dabo is not a candidate to become a fiduciary.

He can't be trusted. It'll hurt his players more than it will help them.

NFL scouts appear to be annoyed with Dabo and how he pompously pumps up his players and how great they are.

This might be the dumbest form of criticism I have heard in a while. Dabo is doing what every player wants their head coach to do.

Then again we are talking about people who are going to draft Anthony Richardson in the 1st round. So how smart can they be?

Why is it a college coaches job to tell the scout anything?

In theory, it’s not. But when you’re at Clemson or UGA or Bama or LSU your job is to win championships. Can’t win championships if you don’t have proven success sending guys to the league and you’re not going to have as much relative success sending guys to the league if the league doesn’t trust your information.

Coaches play ball with scouts because it can directly fuel their draft success which in turn fuels their recruiting success.

Being honest with scouts about a guy’s flaws doesn’t mean you’re downgrading your own players. Every guy in the draft has flaws. If anything, it helps them land with a team that thinks they can work with or improve those flaws which means future success in the League that can be touted later. Being dishonest or covering up a guys flaws just makes your program look I’ll equipped to get guys where they need to be to have success

Well, that may be a death shot to dumbo’s recruiting. It only took 1 scout saying Malzahn’s offense did not prepare Olinemen, and Oline recruiting went in the shitter after that. Saban and bowl cut both love to negative recruit. They will bring this up to every recruit they’re battling Clemson with.

Sounds like Dabo is just wants the best for his players. If a scout is told something by Dabo and they believe it and don't do their homework then that's on them

Part of the homework is talking to coach.

Georgia players want their coaches to be honest.

The ones who would wish otherwise transfer out.

Dabo's cheesy as hell, but he's selling his program and players. NFL scouts know what's what, they don't have to be sold anything.

You need to give them honest evaluations though, or they're not going to respect your input.

I get the idea but this isn't how it works. Saban and everyone else pumps up every player because there's no upside to doing the opposite.

You don't think there are benefits to a coach or to a program to be honest with NFL scouts?

No. And no one does it. It's always going to be a positive message.

But not Hugh Freeze, because he is a straight shooter and can be trusted. Why, I even heard one University even gave him carte blanche on a credit card one time, they trusted him so much.

Not true. I know that coaches typically tell scouts which players do not show up for morning workouts, are constantly having to be baby sat and cause dissension.

If the player is talented enough they might draft them anyway, but coaches and scouts (most) do share honest evaluations as to work ethic, attitude, etc. High school coaches often will do the same with college recruiters.
