It's getting wild again. Personally if we have to expand, I would prefer Va. Tech and NC State if we took anyone from the ACC. They, besides Clemsux and FSU are the most football oriented, it would add new states and be geographically consistent. If you look at the Big 12 or PAC 12, Kansas offers basketball and Missouri gets its true rival back but that is about it. Colorado is a dumpster fire and has been for years. The Arizona schools might be the best fit out of the PAC and of course the on campus scenery would be mighty. Just from the hatred of the old ACC days I would hate to throw UNC and Clemsux a lifeline given all that went down when we left the ACC and FSU already turned us down before along with Miami.

I agree wholeheartedly, which is why I picked the schools that I did. Honestly, culturally at this point, Arizona is a better fit for the SEC than Virginia is.
Hell, we just added Austin, TX to the footprint and that's the one that worries me. We may as well have added Berkley, CA.

I don’t see us settling for minor league schools like NC State at this point. It’s all about the big time programs.

Yeah, you're probably correct but at this point its like a snowball moving downhill. I agree with the other poster that said we need to be real careful about who we add if any and just not add to add.

This
For both us and the BIG there are just a few schools left that add value
ND
UNC
FSU
Oregon
Clemson
Miami
Washington
That might be it , the others are debatable

WOnt BE ANY ACC teams . They have a $300 million exit fee.....

The ACC isn't going anywhere.
If AZ, AZ state, Colorado, and Utah go to the Big 12.
I honestly wouldn't mind Washington and Oregon in the SEC. Those would be awesome away games to go to, no way it happens though.

Clemson, and Florida State are the most SEC-like. Notre Dame is the most like the Big 10.
Washington and Oregon are big schools, but so far out of our footprint that they're likely not even on our radar.
If it becomes a free-for-all, the SEC will probably push HARD for UNC and Clemson, since those are big schools in the heart of our territory (can't afford to lose them). Notre Dame is that team for the Big 10.

I predict a "2 super conference" scenario, where the SEC and Big Ten expand (maybe to 18 or 20 each), and all of the rest figure out a new pathway. That means the SEC and Big Ten would poach some combination of the remaining big names from the Pac-12 (Oregon, UW, Stanford), the ACC (Clemson, UNC, Duke, UVa, maybe FSU and Miami), and ND. Then, the remaining schools would have to fend for themselves. Maybe the remaining Pac-12 and Big 12 schools merge into a conference, while the ACC picks up some of the mid-major schools, and those two conferences form a second tier.
Whatever happens, college football as we knew it will never be the same.

I don't disagree with sticking with the SE region. Expanding way out West doesn't make sense, and the pickings are slim looking for schools in the Midwest. If the SEC were to add two more teams, I'd prefer Clemson and NC. If the SEC were to add 4 more, then add UVa and Miami. I don't see any real value in adding VT, WV, NC St, and GT. FSU had their chance, so they can die on the vine for all I care.

Who does everyone predict will be the next schools to join the SEC, if it expands yet again?

I think it's an attempt to replace the NCAA, and the SEC and Big 10 are fighting to be the new authority.
The SEC was more subtle, you could honestly say Texas and Oklahoma were solid fits. There's some rivalries in place already, and they are regionally in the footprint, and the Big 12 was already failing after losing Nebraska, Colorado, A&M and Mizzou.
The Big 10, the corresponding move would be Notre Dame, and then maybe Kansas (for basketball and to open the Midwest more, balancing with Nebraska).
Raiding the Pac 12 makes zero sense otherwise; that's their conference partner, a partnership closer than anything the SEC is tied with. There's zero geographic connection to LA. The only thing that makes sense, is that they want to fill in the area in-between now, and take over college football.
There will be rules in place shortly, teams from the different conferences won't be able to play anymore. Just watch.

Forgive me if I'm late, but isn't ND's golden contract with NBC up in a couple of years?

I would say it will be a football only realignment, to support all of the remaining NCAA sports. The SEC could stay in tact for all other sports but football could expand to include Clemson, FSU and Miami. You would need to add Miami if you ditch Vandy (for football) because you need a private university to prevent having to disclose all communications.
