What the frick?
If you mean "who was understood to be the dominant team in the SEC by Week 7" then...
2009: Florida, duh. Alabama was still considered the challenger, Florida was the destined repeat.
2010: I think we knew when Florida and Alabama had both been defeated, LSU was struggling against the likes of McNeese State and Vanderbilt and Auburn had just rallied big and looked like a team destined to win that Auburn was the team to beat that year.
2012: Uh... Alabama? How is this a question? Yeah you had a lot of teams in the hunt, but you had two unbeatens by this point (Alabama and Florida), one of these teams was the defending national champion, the other was coming off back-to-back .500 seasons. Pretty obvious who the frontrunner was.
2008 I'll give you, after Ole Miss upset Florida and Alabama upset Georgia, we didn't know who would come out on top. Turned out to be Alabama and Florida, but neither team was the clear-cut people's favorite.
No, I meant that after week 7, we should have a good idea if a team this upcoming season might join the 3 I listed.

Let's not get sidetracked. That game's existence alone is controversial, and it may not be a good idea to use that game to strengthen my claim regarding the 2011 Crimson Tide defense.

2014 Gamecocks. Gun Blazin', Cock Slangin', and Rock Smashing. But seriously, we'll be really good.
I hear that 2014 is Florida's year too. We'll see. I know several teams will be starting new quarterbacks, and that is not a position that you just "reload" at. 2014 will be a very interesting year, but we may get a predominant team this year.

Because they fricking won the game?
They didn't win those games in predominant fashion. 2009 Tennessee was blown out by Ole Miss and Virginia Tech, teams that Alabama had beaten convincingly. 2009 Auburn was blown out by Arkansas and LSU, teams that Alabama had beaten. Why should Alabama struggle against unranked rivals when opponents they'd already beaten by fair or convincing margins blew Auburn or Tennessee out?

Gardevoir is a Pokemon For this year, I really don't think there will be a team that is just much better than everyone else. Based on the Top 10 finishes last year by SEC teams, it's hard to see one team dominating another. Sure, Alabama may easily win it again, but they will probably face some tough challenges.
It's nice to meet someone who recognizes the name. Gardevoir was one of my favorite Pokemon as a child. I agree with you and think that we'll have a better idea after the October 12th games.
Sorry for the slow responses, but the SEC RANT could really use a multiple quote button.

Florida: If it weren't for an uncharacteristic showing against Ole Miss
This makes no sense. We always beat Florida.

Lol Gardevoir is mostly female Pokemon from the 3rd generation. Something tells me this guy should have posted in the gaming board first.

Pretending to be a Bama fan was dead giveaway. LSU fans are cute if nothing else.

2009: A 14-0 team with wins over 10 bowl teams wasn't dominant?

As long as Saban is there Alabama will be dominant

I think Georgia is ready to finally get over the hump and start contending for Nat Championships.

This might just be me, but the only time I can remember where I'd watch a team and no matter who the opponent was, I knew the team would win was in 2011 for both LSU and Bama. With the exception of when they played each other, I knew each team would win their games and it not be close.
I really can't remember a time besides that when I knew without a doubt a team would win every game.

Great minds think alike - I've been saying 2014 was going to be our dominant season for awhile now, at least the past two years.
But I think if we go undefeated through those first five games this year, and then make it past Florida at home, then we have a chance to have a very special year, this year as well.

So the 2011 LSU team was the only great team of the bunch? I kinda stopped reading after I saw that breakdown. 2011 LSU offense was average at best. You left that out. Won big games with big special teams play and defense. No different than the Alabama's Florida's and Auburns who all had weaknesses.
Also, remember rivalry games (true rivals not the ones where it's just called one by TV) tend to be closer than the oddsmakers call it. The last 2 years no, but more often than not, both teams show up to play. Truly phenomenal team of BCS era without a weakness anywhere? You'd have to go back to 2001 Miami.
