Gotta hand it to you on that one, not a bad persuasive slant.

Guess there is something to thank Kim Anderson for. His players weren’t good enough to pay.

Pretty hilarious has blatantly specific their internal documentation was.

This is like SMU's "got a payroll to keep" type stuff.

I wouldn't be so quick to point fingers if your program isn't listed. This is only a fraction of what they will end up finding.

They're the same damn thing.

All these newbies trying to comprehend all this. Auburn is grizzled. Been dealing with this for months. I recall a few saying Bruce will be fired

this agency was dumb enough to give Quarterman $16,000

That has to be maddening for an agency too. Give a bad player $ or give a player like Bam $ and never see it again.

But when you see players like Renaldo Balkman going in the 1st round, who knows what to believe?

The worst part of getting caught cheating in the NCAA is if you still sucked even AFTER cheating...

Quarterman was a 4* recruit who was a pretty good player when he put forth the effort, so it's understandable why he'd get some money.

The 16,000 was paid to him in his junior year. Which he was the cancer on the team that year. Pretty funny that this agency paid him that money and then he didn’t turn into anything. I think he got arrested a few months ago.

Another question.

If Collin sexton already was known to do this, how come the other kids weren't outed at the same time?

That doesn't make sense.

Not all the docs have become public. Sexton's tie in got discovered when one of the people in Person's indictment was identified as an Alabama AAD. When he was outed, Bama compliance launched an investigation and discovered the meeting that resulted in Sexton's suspension.

As the legal process moves forward, more docs will make it to the public eye. That will give a lot more context that is missing right now but will probably drag a lot more players and programs into the conversation.

As long as this has been SOP for college basketball no blue-blood or even top 30 program is going to be burned by this. Schools have been insulating themselves from these agent shenanigans for decades.

Sadly, it will be a school like MSU who is not familiar with the way big-time basketball recruiting works, who gets pinched and hammered

The NCAA has no choice. USC got hammered over Reggie Bush getting benefits from an agent.

I bet the NCAA washes their hands of the whole thing and just lets the Feds pursue whatever they want

If this is just a small portion of the schools and it’s this widespread then the NCAA isn’t going to suspend/punish all of these schools. They’ll rewrite some rules and that’ll be about it.

If the evidence only shows meals for Sexton, I don't think much comes of it for him or Bama.

However, I'm pretty sure this is different from the issue that caused him to sit a game at the start of the season. That issue involved a different set of characters offering money for post college representation. If Sexton or Bama made any kind of declaration to the NCAA as part of him being reinstated that was not truthful or was incomplete, there might be some issues there.

I'm not for a second saying it is good to have had an assistant coach and an AAD taking bribes to try to steer players to agents, but for AU and Bama both I think it is FAR better to have been named on the front side of this.

It's safe to say compliance at both schools did a full body cavity search on anyone associated with the program right after the story broke. I don't expect anything new to come out on either one. I doubt either school has any exposure from the start of this season forward.

On the other hand, there are probably several programs not known to be involved right now that will make the tourney next month but have to break out the eraser next fall because they have their own Sexton/Wiley/Purifoy but played them all season.

Agreed. Everybody's position now (including what I just posted) rides on nothing new being discovered.
