Florida should rout Texas Tech today, and the Alabama-Duke game should be a wild shootout.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, the Tennessee-Houston game should be a defensive war, and Auburn should beat Michigan State. Izzo is a great coach, but I don't think he can overcome the talent gap. And Bruce isn't such a bad coach himself.

This right here is why we wanted the South regional so badly.

Basically earned ourselves two home games over the course of the regular season.

Stats wise we are playing our doppelgänger. ESPN has Houston at a 67 percent chance of winning. TBH, I don’t see where that number comes from when you look at team stats. Houston has more wins but we played half of the elite 8 with our 2 most recent losses to Ole Miss and Florida. I think it will be a genuine toss up game depending on the refs.

@CFBMatrix

Total team (off+def) scoring efficiency (my calcs) in power conference ranks left in the elite 8. In-conference rankings. No non-con fluff

Duke #1
Houston 2
Florida 4
Texas Tech 7
Michigan State 8
Auburn 9
Alabama 13
Tennessee 18

I lean the better offense to win so...

Here are the offensive scoring efficiency rankings (power conf teams only) of the E8 teams

Duke #1
Florida 3
Alabama 5
Auburn 8
Texas Tech 10
Houston 12
Michigan State 22
Tennessee 26

I think we would all take the better offenses?

I agree with you. There is too much politics with the NCAA and wanting more regional matchups. I don't trust the zebras.

This ain't the January Tennessee offense. I think Tennessee is the only team playing their best basketball of the entire season, right now.

Duke is obviously good and unfortunately think they are a bad matchup for Bama, but their efficiency numbers are inflated due to how bad the ACC is. Calling the ACC a power conference this year is a bit of a stretch.

UF vs. Duke would be a great matchup or even an AU rematch on a neutral court, but I’m hoping they try to run with Bama tonight and their shooters including Flagg lose their shooting legs.

I agree they had conf inflation. SEC was a war zone every single game. That will deflate their stats in comparison to other conferences

Hope Condon is at least 80%, even if he's not playing particularly well he makes such a difference just with his size, mobility, passing, and relentless effort.

Duke is nothing like the cupcakes alabama has played so far.

Their starting lineup is 6’6”, 6’6”, 6’7, 6’9”, 7’2”. They have the tallest roster in the NCAA. They won’t go under screens like BYU because they have size. Duke can also easily switch on defense.

alabama has size on the front line but their guards are short. They will struggle against the length of Duke and their ability to switch.

Odds are this game looks like the two matchups alabama had against Florida. I’ll tip my cap to them if I’m wrong. Duke is beatable but I don’t see it tonight.

If what I hear is correct, they don’t have a single player under 6’6” on their rotating roster. Then add in the fact you can’t challenge CF without a foul being called. Duke is beatable but I’d rather be playing against the other 6 teams remaining. It’s going to take a performance similar to Thursday night’s game for Bama to win!

alabama has plenty of front court length. The issue is going to be getting up clean shots over Duke’s perimeter length when they’re able to switch every screen.

Sears and Halloway are only 6’1”. Philon and Youngblood are 6’4”. They’ll be guarded by 6’6”+ guys. The bulk of alabama’s scoring comes from those 4 players.
