Is this good? Which teams would it hurt the most by this ruling?

I think Tennessee is one team that will be at a disadvantage with this ruling.

Pretty much what I expected. It's basically impossible for a ref to make such a decision during a game, and it would promote players not getting the help they need due to fear of penalty.

Plus, the players have to "fake" injures even for legit ones because it's the only way to stop play and get off the field. If you hurt your upper body, you have to fall to the ground.

I think the best solution is something that happens after the fact and is strong enough to deter during the game.

Tennessee HC Heupel probably doesn't like this one!

Big Josh has a counter. Will not end well for most teams.

Um, if it’s your upper body play shouldn’t stop you should get off the field.

At the very least any suspicion of a fake injury should result in a timeout being charged.

It's simple to stop. You lay on the field? Out for 10 plays.

It isn't THAT hard. Watch the replay. If a player looks to the sideline and then suddenly drops to the ground, that's faking an injury for the sake of stopping the clock and should not be allowed to continue.

I am inclined to go with this solution. If we are stopping the clock for player safety than safety demands that we make sure the player is physically fine to go back out... so sit out a number of plays or the rest of the series.

The supposed injured player should be ineligible to re-enter the game the rest of the series of the possession.

Look for every action in football there will be a counter action. If they’re going to allow teams to play as fast as possible this is what teams will do to counteract. It’s a part of the game.

No concern for player safety or the integrity of the game by the rules committee. A simple player is disqualified for the possession would have done both.

Bunch of fools. When they say “a small number of teams” they mean almost every single game.

It’s not hard to make a player miss the rest of the drive for “safety concerns and a full examination”.

It shouldn't be a penalty.

For the players safety, he should have to leave the game for the remainder of the quarter.

Good. Gimmick O’s shouldn’t be catered to.

So the DB has a broken arm but is close to the opposing teams sideline. Other team is running hurry up. You think he’s got time to run off the field? His team has to recognize that he’s hurt (won’t be obvious since he’s not on the ground) then his replacement has to also run across the entire field. All this has to happen before the ref is able to spot the ball because that’s when the offense will be able to snap it since they didn’t sub
