Yeah, there are apparently limited cameras at this game. The only way he was out is if the glove hit the foot because it was clear that the tag on the back of the leg was after the foot was on the bag.
No angle at all that showed the possibility of the glove hitting the shoe.

Why was the Nicholls left fielder playing so deep? Shouldn’t he have been playing very shallow? At least shallow enough to make that play. What am I missing?

He was playing a regular depth. I didn’t see him being that deep. A good throw probably gets the runner or at least it’s bang-bang.
