With respect to Jackson, I think he should be let go, too. But I think Kiffin is making the right call in waiting till all the information comes in before making a quick decision.

I think JJ should be gone regardless, but if everyone takes off their Kiffin-Hating caps for a moment, if it could be demonstrated that Jackson honestly did not know what was going to happen and is not going to be charged with armed robbery, should he still be dismissed?

Didn't I ask you that very question last week?

Depends on what JJ was suspended for last week...if he failed a drug test, and drugs were in the vehicle, I would want to know if he was using drugs that night. If he was, then bye-bye!

Nuke wasn't going anywhere, he was unhappy with his role on the team, and with his performance when he was getting chances. He talked to the coaches, and teammates and everything was back on track.

I haven't read to many details since last week, but last I checked they attempted armed robbery, which I believe is a felony that I think carries a 5-7 year sentence. Again I haven't read much since last week since at that point it was all speculation as to what happened, but I'd be surprised to see these guys end up at programs like the ones you mentioned.

I expected JJ would be given leniency since he didn't actually PARTICIPATE in the robbery...wasn't the story that he was in the store while the other two were robbing the guys? I'm guessing they are waiting for confirmation of that aspect of the story before deciding his punishment.

+1

They have lots of video footage of the incident being that it happened at the most frequented gas station in town.

it appears there is a possibility jackson wasn't involved with the robbery attempt. i like the way kiffin is handling this honestly and if you look at my previous posts you will know what i think of lane kiffin. it also may not be kiffin handling this, he is merely playing the role of spokesperson.

Can you list the previous strikes on JJ?

It may just be rumor, but I've heard of previous curfew violation, that he got suspended for,Heard he stole something like a laptop in his dorm. Heard he got in a fight with a bouncer, for taking alcohol out of a club(bad enough that the bouncer got his necklace in the brawl). Heard he failed a drug test. Heard he participated in the attempted theft of a hamburger,at gunpoint,in a drug-infested prius, probably after curfew. This all after he lied to LSU,similar to NuKeese, about his committment to LSU, delaying the announcment,to let a 4star safety recruit sign on Feb4 to TENN;only to wait till Feb5 to switch to TENN,now that the other recruit was locked into a letter. Some class this guy is!!! Is that what the insiders got so far,or is this way off?

None of those schools are going to be interested in a guy with this kind of baggage. I think both of their D-1 careers are effectively over. Their best opportunities are probably to go the JUCO route and then to a Jacksonville State type of school afterwards. That's assuming that they won't serve serious time (which seems like a reasonable bet) and that they won't screw up again (I wouldn't bet on that myself).

Don't you have like 27 guys arrested since Meyer got there? Correct me if I am wrong and I will apologize.

Mebe, but the vast majority were not felonies.

ETA: Most were Zooks recruits as well.

ding ding ding. We have a winner. Reminds me of the UF DT that got suspended to start the season for smoking pot, CUM reinstated him for the heart of the SEC schedule, then suspends him again for pot usage after their tough games are behind them. Hate to see a young man with a messed up life fail, but selective enforcement of team rules usually backfires.

Jackson isn't in the same boat as the other two, he was released without being charged. IMO he is just as guilty but you can't make a snap ruling, look at the penn state player who was booted and turned around and sued.

Wrong, Jackson was released on his own recognizance, he is still charged.
