Coming out of HS, I personally believe McNeal was the better talent.
VY had the better size at 6'5, 260ish, but McNeal was faster, more athletic, and better arm.
Texas did a much better job of developing VY, surrounding him with elite talent, and putting him in a system that ft him.
Agree, VY an all-time CFB great.
This thread is about wasted talent...not who was the best CFB player.
Actually I don't think they developed him at all, which is why Young was an NFL bust. All they did was let him play in an incredibly simplified offense where he had to make basically one read a play.
McNeal should have been the first RG3, he had that kind of talent.

DEFINITELY Russell Shepherd for LSU
For A&M...Ken Hall in the 50's/ Randy Simmons in the late 80's/ early 90's

Bama- Shaun Alexander and isn't even close. Sit the first 2 years behind Dennis Riddle. Ran for 296 yds against LSU in his first significant playing time game, then carried like 3 times against MSU who we lost to 17-16 the next week.
Lots of people don't know this but this game and his misuse of Alexander pretty much ran Stallings off. Alexander was a horrible practice player and Gene, who was in a pinch because nobody else was any good still said if you don't practice, you don't play.

Damien Nash (RIP) wasted by HCGP by his RB rotation and bullshite discipline, promising NFL career cut short by death.

My vote goes to Knile Davis. Leads the SEC in rushing after only starting half the games. Then tragedy struck. He could have been a legendary player. Never got to be the starter for a whole year.

Ryan Perilloux is the correct answer.
Cecil "The Diesel" could give him a run for his money.

Reggie McNeal - Fran f-cked him up. It's sad. The dude would have statues of himself outside of Kyle Field with a decent coach. Freak. It's hard talking about him. Sh-t still pisses me off.
F U Fran. Rant over.

As for recently that would have to be Reggie McNeal. I wish he could have played in a Spread offense rather than the option bullshite Fran forced him to play.
Thought he was gonna be a Hog...
Freddie Fairchild for the Hogs IMO
