Brent Schaeffer. In the right system, he would have been nasty.

Donte Walker's wasted talent caused Dicenzo Miller's talent to go to waste.. He shoulda never been second fiddle their last year on the roster together..

Reggie McNeal

I truly believe that he was a better talent than Vince Young. Fran tried turning him into an option QB. He should have transferred when he had his chance.

Coming out of HS, I personally believe McNeal was the better talent.

VY had the better size at 6'5, 260ish, but McNeal was faster, more athletic, and better arm.

Texas did a much better job of developing VY, surrounding him with elite talent, and putting him in a system that ft him.

Agree, VY an all-time CFB great.

This thread is about wasted talent...not who was the best CFB player.

How about Matt Flynn for LSU? Had he started over Jamarcus yall may have had a run similar to Bamas now.

Probably not. Jamarcus Russell's stats were Brees-like (for college). He was 22-4 as a starter in '05 and '06.

Our only 2 losses in '05 were Tennessee in OT
(defense fault, not Russell); and SECCG vs UGA when Russell got hurt in 1st half.

He just had bad luck in '06 -we gave away a game at Gainesville (2 muffed kicks deep in LSU territory gave Fla. all their points), and the refs gave away the game to Auburn.
Our only 2 losses in '06.

I really don't think Jamarcus could have prevented the avalanche that happened to LSU that night. UGA got out of the gates fast that game and LSU was a REAL tired team in the dome that night, having played 11 weeks in a row after a Hurricane ravaged Baton Rougue earlier in the year. I don't really think you can put that all on Russell getting hurt in the 1st half.

Honorable mention would be Jevan Snead. I think he had the potential to be great, Nutt and company just fricked him up IMO

Nope. He lost a girl and his swagger. Very sad.

You're right. A guy that dominated Texas HS football wasn't talented.

All time for A&M would have to be Ken Hall. The guy just did not get along with Bear Bryant and didn't fit in with his system. He would have been phenomenal in the right offense.

As for recently that would have to be Reggie McNeal. I wish he could have played in a Spread offense rather than the option bullshite Fran forced him to play.
