With expanded playoffs it loses some punch. Used to be a rivalry week loss could kill your season as a one loss team. Now all it means is you’d not play in the conference title game and you’ll have to play in the first round of the playoffs instead of a bye

I'm not sure what you're talking about. This is the most competitive rivalry week I've seen in quite awhile.
