Unlike KU which gets 2 home games each time no matter what their rank

Drake University had most of it's roster who came from within 3 hours of Wichita.
Duke 1 hour away, Georgia only 4 hours away
southern ill only 4 hours away
Morgantown WV to Buffalo NY 4.5 hours
UCLA in San Jose - Number of UCLA fans are far greater in Northern Cal than Mizzou fans (I was at that game)
Texas in Dallas (3 hours)
Xavier in Indianapolis (2 hours)
Lamar 4 hours
LSU 4 hours

Report from post-dispatch on this past weekend in STL:

ST. LOUIS — Chaos erupted Saturday night on the streets of St. Louis as seven people were shot and large masses of young people took over several major street corners.

None of the injuries is thought to be life-threatening, said Mitch McCoy, St. Louis police spokesman. Around 50 vehicles involved in the street takeovers — large gatherings to watch drivers drift and slide their cars — were spiked by police.

Two of the gunshot victims are juveniles. Police do not believe any of the incidents were related.

The mayhem began around 5:30 p.m., when an adult woman was found shot in a condemned apartment building in the 3600 block of Illinois Avenue in the Marine Villa neighborhood. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was in critical condition.

Though cautioning that police are still early in their investigation, McCoy said they believe the woman was in an argument with another person before she was shot.

A 14-year-old girl was shot around 9:30 p.m. following a massive party in the 8200 block of North Broadway in the Baden neighborhood. Police were already at the scene after receiving reports of a crash and disturbances among a group of hundreds of juveniles who had left the party and moved into the street.

McCoy said the police repeatedly told the crowd to disperse and get out of the street, telling some to call their parents for rides home. While police were on the scene, they heard gunshots and moved into the crowd, where they discovered the girl who had been shot near North Broadway and Halls Ferry Road. She was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

Video taken at the scene and shared on social media shows a group of people surrounding a police car, with its lights on, from three sides.

Because so many people were in the street, officers had to close North Broadway for a period.

At 10:55 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire downtown at North Tucker Boulevard and St. Charles Street. They found no victims there but did see ballistic evidence of gunshots. A hospital later told police an adult woman was there with a gunshot wound that police believe was related to this incident. The woman's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

At around 11:45 p.m., a hospital told police they were treating a 17-year-old male for a gunshot wound. The victim said he had been walking downtown near Seventh and Chestnut Streets when he heard gunshots and felt pain. Realizing he had been shot, he drove himself to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

The victim said he did not know where the gunfire had come from.

Just before 2 a.m., police responded to report of gunfire in the 1900 block of Locust Avenue in the Downtown West neighborhood. They found ballistic evidence of a shooting but no victims.

A hospital later informed them that a 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the police, evidence indicates that the 27-year-old had been in a shootout with another person, who has not yet been found. The 27-year-old is a convicted felon and will be charged with having a firearm, McCoy said.

Around 4:45 a.m., police went to a hospital where a 19-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound. He had been at a street takeover at Ninth and Branch Streets in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood when multiple people started shooting from different directions, he told police.

A friend took him to the hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Meanwhile, other street takeovers caused havoc throughout the city, McCoy said.

Around 9:30 p.m., vehicles blocked Gravois Avenue near Morgan Ford Road in the Bevo neighborhood for around 15-20 minutes to watch the illegal stunt driving and fireworks. One woman, who had been hanging out of a vehicle window, was injured when she was ejected during a crash.

Police did not deploy road spikes at the Gravois and Morgan Ford incident, but they did at street takeovers at Carrie Avenue and Broadway in the North Riverfront neighborhood, 13th and O'Fallon Streets in Carr Square, and a block away at 13th Street and Cass Avenue at the juncture of the Columbus Square, Carr Square, Old North St. Louis and St. Louis Place neighborhoods.

"There was one consistent problem we saw throughout the night, even with multiple shootings: It was juveniles without their parents; they were nowhere in sight," McCoy said.

"Our officers should not be your babysitter. Our city is not a playground, and this type of violence is absolutely unacceptable."

McCoy also praised the police officers who ran into danger to do their jobs.

Anyone with information about the Downtown incidents is asked to call District 4 detectives at 314-444-2500. Anyone with information about the shooting at North Broadway and Halls Ferry Road is asked to call District 6 detectives at 314-444-0001.

And anyone who would like to submit tips anonymously can call Crime Stoppers at 866-371-8477.

Yes, but more importantly, Mizzou is used to playing other teams in the NCAA tournament who do have more of a home court advantage.

There has only ever been one tournament in Arkansas. I think we went to Seattle when we won the national championship and played the title game against Duke in Charlotte. You're not supposed to have a home court advantage.

since when? Traditionally the #1 overall seed is specifically put in a region that gives them essentially home court advantage. That used to apply to all seeds (the highest rated seed from the same group of seed gets geographical consideration to be closer to home). ku has played many games in KC as one example.

Nobody ever plays in their home campus and that wasn't the discussion. The real measure is how far they have to travel from campus, if they have a fan base at that location, and if the location is more favorable to the team they are playing. Fayetteville isn't located centrally in the state whereas Columbia is.

For instance, although Memphis is 10 minutes from the Arkansas border and there is a good fan base from Arkansas there, but it's still over 4.5 hours away from Fayetteville so I wouldn't count that if Arkansas was playing there. But I would count Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Kansas City depending on who they play which are shorter drives.

In total, Arkansas has played over 15 NCAA tournament games within driving distance of Fayetteville. No, it's not the same as the advantage North Carolina had when they played Arkansas 1.5 hours away from NC campus in a different state, but it was still within driving distance.

For Missouri, I would have counted Wichita as a game that was close enough to Columbia because of the larger fan base in Kansas City if Drake didn't have half their team and their coach from a much closer distance. Omaha was also a decent location even though it was a bit longer drive.

Saw some Miami fans on Twitter complaining. Which is ironic considering they just had the CFP title game in their own stadium (and still choked).

Miami won multiple national championships at home in Miami at the Orange Bowl. 1983, 1987, 1991.

Losses in 1994 and 2025.

They have no room to complain

We won the National Championship in Charlotte and runner-up the next year in Seattle.

The one time the state of Arkansas hosted an NCAA Regional it was in Little Rock, not Fayetteville.

Arkansas didn't get placed in Little Rock because they didn't play well enough in the season to get rewarded to stay close to home.

If Arkansas had been a top 1-3 seed that year, they absolutely would have been placed in LR.

Thanks for the corrections, although I believe Little Rock is still in Arkansas.

I agree with that, but I'm not sure why we're talking about 1-3 seeds, when Mizzou is a 10 seed?

I would think there's a decent chance that Missouri has probably played more games where the other teams had more fans closer to the game site.

So it's all right for them to play the opening round in STL. Go Mizzou!
