I actually attended Mizzou in 98'. Born in Louisiana, grew up in Kansas(yes yankees taught me history). Pretty much all of my family/friends are from Louisiana, a lot of them live in this area now. Mizzou folks remind me of the LSU people that look down upon other instate schools. I didn't like their arrogant, cocky, we are the best attitude. I'd take the Missouri Ozarks any day over the area around CoMo.
Tell me again why Mizzou alum, supporters, politicians blocked Southwest Missouri States name change for over 20yrs. Yes you guys felt threatened by a simple name change.

I have only heard great things from friends that got to go up to CoMo. I think the main reason was they were so excited to get invited to the "cool kids" party, and this will change in a few years.
The only real complaint I have heard was there is no sweet tea in the press box. I know that shite won't fly down here!

This endless debate over Missouri being southern or Yankee is stupid. Look at my sig pic and problem solved! Missouri= 1/3 Southern and 2/3 Midwestern. Game, set, match.

FWIW: I was born and raised in Missouri and have lived here 50 years and not once in my entire life have I ever called Coke pop or heard anyone close to me call it that. No one I have ever known says lets go get a pop, we all say lets go get a coke.. I've even been corrected at a few places that said we don't have Coke is Pepsi or RC alright when I knew they only served Pepsi or RC.
For other things I usually call them soda when using a generic name.
As for being southern I'd say no I'm not southern but do have a lot of southern leanings and really don't think anything that happened 150 years ago solidifies any claim to anything at this time..
I am what I am and I am now an SEC fan who was sick to death at the thought of being in the BIG a year or so ago.. I think bringing up the BIG is not needed because when many wanted the BIG I think none of them even through the SEC would give Mizzou a second look none the less invite us in.. But you did and we're glad to be here and only hope is that the school does what it takes by spending the money to be competitive in the SEC..
