correct. that's still a small amount of games. having "winless" thrown around like that, to hold weight, would need to be more than 2 - especially win one of those was Alabama.

I know it is early, but if Arky continues like it is going and can go 10-2, Pittman should be coach of the year period end of story!

Pittman did. So yes, if he is a great coach, I do. To be a good coach in today's game you have to be able to hit the portal to meet your needs. This is especially true for teams like Ark and Mizzou. We can't just recruit our way out in the traditional method without down years.

Yes right now but that also is just the numbers game. There are some amazing threads from Mizzou fans regarding the Pittman hire. That opening press conference in which he cried started some by itself if I remember correctly.

If you're looking for a legitimate answer rather than a stalking horse for an Arkansas pissing contest, I would say that I think for the most part people are still high on him or at least hopeful that Drink is the guy to turn things around.

Clearly, the defense is horrible, but he is getting some leeway because as pointed out people believe the cupboard was bare. Now, hiring Wilks is on him and some are wondering what combination of scheme and personnel is the issue. This is going to take a while to play out.

As far as the offense goes the feeling is while not immediately demonstrating that he is the genius play-caller we had hoped, he can put points on the board (thank you Mr. Badie). He has exhibited some strange game clock (mis)management which I didn't see coming, but nothing I would consider profoundly stupid.

In summary, I think everyone is willing to invest a few years with him. Pinkel went 4-7 and 5-7 in his first two years and we ended up being reasonably happy with him. Although frankly we are hoping for even more out of Drinkwitz.

So with advance congratulations to the Razorbacks for going 15-0 and winning the NC (I've read it's a lock), we'll give Drink a little more time to develop a program to sustain long-term success.

So, no souring yet.

Most programs dont turn things around in 2 years.

A=B

It may be working for Arkansas in year two, but that doesnt mean that drink wont work out. It may take him 3 or 4 years for whatever reason, but year 2 is a bit early to be saying he isnt a good coach.

** I hate mizzou, but I mean come on. its early

You do realize Arkansas literally just did that this off-season. It’s doable. That’s why the transfer portal exists.

To be fair, the Pittman hire seemed weak at the time: a 60-year old guy with no head coaching experience who is comically overweight. But Arkansas seems to have known something we didn't since he's doing a hell of a job so far.

I mean their 2 losses are to 2 4-0 teams even if UK is a pretty ugly 4-0.

They can right the ship the next 2 weeks against Tennessee and North Texas...then A&M comes to town and if they can take one there then take care of business the following week against Vandy I'm sure the losses to UK and BC early on will be mostly forgotten.

I don't disagree with the first part although the second has nothing to do with your ability as a coach. Many ignored how respected he was as a college coach though and his connections. There are many Arkansas fans that melted about the hire and admit they were wrong to this point. Other fan bases are slowly starting to own up to it as well.

Yep, one of the best ADs in the country found a guy that truly wanted the job. Instead of someone looking to build their resume or make a little extra money. That isn't a shot at any particular hire, Arkansas has made plenty of those in the past like most programs.

Oh I agree, but a lot of the sophisticated threads on this board were troll comments about his weight rather than anything of substance regarding his coaching ability.

This is literally why I started posting here. I saw us start doing the kinds of things that WE need to do to be successful. The thing that makes college athletics special is that it isn't all about X's and O's. Each college is unique and it takes people who know and respect their culture and tradition to be successful.

I never expected Pitt to win a title here or anything like that but he and Muss fit our culture, respect our traditions and history and actually want to be here.

Arkansas fans schooling other SEC fans on coaching hires after dealing with their shite storm of awful coaches the last 10 years is about as delicious as irony gets.

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed another team’s rise from the ashes as much as I am with Arkansas’ lol

What can we say, we know what shitty coaching looks like. We know what coach speak excuses sound like. We know what delusional sunshine pumping sounds like.
