Even with our lack of success, we’re still living rent free in small minded SEC lizard brains almost ten years later.

That was not a New Year's Six bowl. The Cotton lost major status beginning with the 1995 season with the Bowl Alliance and didn't regain it until the 2014 season when the CFP/NY6 added them along with the Peach, thus making the Cotton a major bowl once more.

Speaking as someone who participated in a BCS Era Cotton Bowl, the experience leading up to the game for support and the team was major bowl caliber but the stadium was not. When they moved to the Jerrydome, it really improved the overall perception of that game.

I’d agree with your assessment in specific but in general the difference between the Cotton and Fiesta as an experience for those involved at the school was negligible.

You don’t get to say “rent-free” when your school is missing due dates

SEC in 2011: We are bringing in Mizzou because of the sizable markets and reasonably competitive sports program.

A few weird SEC fans 2021: We should kick Mizzou out as they have delivered on exactly why we brought them in but they’ve not kicked our A$$, they’ve only been an average program who has made huge financial investments in their facilities and raised our academic reputation. Get em out!

Sounds like Mizzou's metrics for athletic revenue per conference win, athletic revenue per national championship, and athletic revenue per major bowl appearance are the highest in the conference?

So Mizzou is very good at maximizing earnings per athletic performance?

It’s pretty mind boggling having recruiting grounds of STL Metro, East St. Louis, and even Chicago to a smaller extent that they don’t dominate recruiting more, especially in hoops. East STL has some great athletes.

I can agree with you on that, but the Cotton was not a major bowl from 1995-2013. The Bowl Alliance picked the Fiesta over the Cotton and then it was left out of the BCS. It was pretty much on par with the Outback from 95-13. The Citrus would get the top SEC team not in the BCS, while the Cotton would usually take the top remaining SEC West team, and the Outback the top remaining SEC East team. When the Cotton was included in the CFP/NY6 for the 2014 season, the Dallas Morning News had a great write up about this.

First of all, national prestige is based on football. There are only 2 types of football seasons, years when Bama wins and years when Bama doesn't

That's the same for Akron otor anyone

Drink is fixing that.

Well, at least we bring in less fat and illiterate people to the SEC. That’s something. Cry about it.

Vandy carries the Academic reputation for the SEC and one is enough...........LOL

The most TV sets Mizzou has brought is from that Michael Brown deal and those were still in the box from Wall-Marks

The saddest thing I’ve ever seen in sports fandom was after the 2014 SECCG where a table of Mizzou fans at the restaurant toasted to “yay we finished 2nd two years in a row!”

Football Series History: Missouri leads 9–3
Football Winning Streak: Missouri 5

Note: The last time Arkansas beat Mizzou in football Barack Obama was president.

Imagine thinking that caring about your fellow man is a bad thing, but you're from Mississippi, so it shouldn't be surprising.

What does that say about your pathetic football team then? Basketball hasn’t been much better. Keep bragging about your women’s track team.
