The uniforms and the script State on the helmet look like crap. There is a fan led movement happening to just simplify it.

This is the proper way for State to look:

There was a throwback a couple years ago that was well received:

Instead they are wearing SWAC-tastic uniforms with that terrible logo on it.

This is what the fanbase is asking for:

LSU will let Nike f-up our two traditional unis with a wgw combo again.

F Nike.

The following schools should never, never mess with their two traditional unis:

Alabama
Auburn
Arkansas
LSU
MSU
UGA
Tenn
UF
Texas am
Texas
OU

Usc and ole miss should be allowed to mess around with theirs a little bit but still stay in the rails.

Kentucky
Vanderbilt and
Missouri should try all the uni combos they want.

The gear USC has worn under Beamer is about right. It's simple, with no crazy piping or shoulder stuff (simple stripes), but the helmet/jersey/pants combos are correct.

Rocky's designs are exactly what MSU should go with. That's a really good look. Why schools don't take these types of designs under advisement is weird. How can a fan draw up something so good and the school go with something done poorly?

Kang Jackie era uniform was classic State and should be the uniform to promote MSU's brand - especially the interlocking MSU helmet -

https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/mississippi-state/2023/11/02/mississippi-state-football-uniform-1998-jerseys-kentucky-jackie-sherrill/71346343007/

quote:

STARKVILLE — The interlocking MSU logo is more than a throwback look for Mississippi State football fans. It’s featured on cars driving down Highway 12, on polos of fans tailgating in The Junction and T-shirts of young fans getting their first taste of Davis Wade Stadium.

That’s because the 1998 MSU team is more than an SEC West-winning group.

It’s a team held on a pedestal within the athletic facilities and still celebrated around Starkville. It’s an era where the uniforms, logos and names – such as Wayne Madkin and Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack – are synonymous with words such as toughness and attitude.

For those supporting the maroon and white, 1998 wasn’t just another season.

This has always been perplexing to me as well. Would actually be a cool scenario if schools let the current student body have a vote on how they want to be represented on the athletic field.

If you go this route it would be season ticket holders/NIL boosters not teenage college students. They’d pick something dumb

For some reason I can’t explain that black stripe on on the shoulder really works for State. You wouldn’t think maroon and black would work

It would only be a matter of time before they made a push to incorporate the pair of ALL white New Balances.....

I do think the interlocking letters are superior, but I don't mind the script.

Hot take: Arkansas should have a special events helmet that features Sweater Hog.

No reason State shouldn't go back to that uni.

I do love the new State script logo though. But I love script because of the Ole Miss Script.

State changed manufacturers in 2004, from Nike to Russell. Due to Nike owning the updated "interlocking MSU” logo and Mississippi State's administration wanting to create a more unified brand, the "M-State" logo became the helmet logo and white helmets became the full-time look for the first time since 1972.

Football Uniform History

They would have to pay Nike and that is kind of being blackmailed so i get it. Screw Nike.

I'm sure Alabama takes it to an extreme, but this topic is a prime example of why you really don't need to make radical changes once you have an established brand.

Trying to keep pace with "modern" design trends are dumb, it leads to an endless cycle, and you can find yourself stuck with some hideous gear for a few years.

Bama only messes with borders. Thats about it.

They also had a helmet change in the 80s.

Their brand is safe. They’d tell Nike or UA to take a hike if they firmly suggested a change. Better yet, the mfgs never make a recommendation.

other than their helmets, their uniform's are fine and not much different from the throwbacks you said were well received.

Matches our SWAC tactic level of play on the field at least

As a State fan I hate the maroon pants. We should never ever wear maroon pants again.
And please burn anything and everything black.
We should be maroon / white or white / white and very occasionally maroon / gray. I am good with one special uniform every year but that should be it.

The State script is okay for basketball/ baseball and other sports but has no place on the football uniform. The interlocking MSU is easily the best helmet. Period.
