Not including State and Ole Miss fans on this board, I guarantee those who have been to both Oxford and Starkville would be prefer to return to Oxford by a Reagan '80 landslide. But it's very cute that y'all defend your little trailer park so vigorously.

if you want to go home with some north Mississippi white trash then be my guest

For real though I think I went to cowbells twice in college and it really is a shite show.

Cowbells isn’t horrible if you are college aged. There are plenty of skanks to pick up there though

You sound exactly like someone who has never stepped foot in Starkville. At least the other Ole Miss fans in this thread helped and gave valuable information for the topic

Eh, I enjoy both. Starkville gets shite on a lot, Oxford gets undue praise, and I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

It's from a poster self-named "D*ck Head"

Surely he's just staying in character

I agree. I love MSU and Starkville but I’ve been to many other college towns and they are far more developed, with better bars and more restaurants. But that’s not to say Starkville doesn’t have some cool spots and good food. There’s just a little less.

The problem Starkville has is that without the university it would be just another tiny town in MS and it doesn’t have the population year round to support a lot of bars/restaurants.

I will say the current leadership of both the city and university is doing a fantastic job in growing the town. The cotton district is being revitalized and has changed a lot even since my freshmen year (2012) and the school itself is growing every single year. Starkville isn’t some no fun shithole that it probably used to be. If you can’t have fun in a college town then you are just a miserable person.

shite, your own prominent Alumni don't like hanging out in Oxford anymore. I hear the square is a great place to get a hooker if you're into such things, however.

My original point, that is totally lost on you, is that Lafayette county mobile homes probably conservatively outnumber Oktibbeha mobile homes two to one.

More directly to your point, anyone who has spent time recently in both Oxford and Starkville, is objective, and isn't interested in catching STDs would prefer Starkville 4 to 1. If it were 1990, your point would be more accurate. I am objective enough to admit that I could have a good time in Oxford if I had to, however.

The only problem with Oxford is all the Ole Miss people swishing around.

I'll be at Hunter's Hollow tomorrow, shooting my bow and talking shite with a bunch of Rebel baws

Then, you have the skinny jean crowd who will pour into the Square and sip some weird coffee on their way to Nielson's to shop (Saskwatch, DownSouthJukin, et al)

It's been about 13 years or so since I ate there. They are the ones with the star shaped pizza dough bite things, right? Guess they've fallen on hard times.

I'll check out Dave's next time I'm down that way.

Headed up to Starkville this weekend and was curious if y’all had any recommendations on what to do?

Stay home and watch it in a nice sports bar.

Nailed it. Is the Square cool? yeah. Is the Cotton District to downtown cool? yeah. I can have a good time at both. However, the biggest difference is you'll see a lot more pretentiousness in oxford and a lot more backwoods in starkville and it seems both are exaggerated in most cases.
