State was actually handicapped that year when Corbin lobbied to kick out NCSU. Vandy rested up while State had to play Texas twice and then play Vandy in the Championship series. State did everything right that CWS.

This and we had to face their two best starters…Lieter & Rocker to boot.
While in the first two games we were pitching our 5th/6th best pitcher and then our #3 or #4 starter before Bednar pitched the finale.
And still beat them twice

State was the #7 overall seed in the tournament and beat #2 seed Texas twice during the CWS, then beat #4 Vanderbilt 13-2 and 9-0 (1-hitter) to win the national championship.
NC State was unseeded, and no way were they better or hotter than Mississippi State.

This. We had a tough road and earned that championship. Had Vandy won then OP would have a point since their coach got NCSU kicked out. But we weren’t gifted anything. I think we would have beaten NCSU too
