The fact that Leach has Mississippi State favored against A&M and a few weeks prior against LSU should be celebrated.

Pretty sure Mullen never did that shite.

I don't think Leach has anything to do with it.

Moo State has already had their "Leach gets completely lost" game of the year. Which means if their offense is even vaguely effective they can be a nightmare for A&M to beat. Yes, the Aggies beat Arkansas, but we screwed up just about every way we could.

If A&M needs to score points against State they could be in a lot of trouble.

I was willing to bet the house on the side of Arkansas when we had a -2.5 spread against them last week. I thought that number was absurd and Arkansas was a clear 1-2 touchdown favorite. Gotta respect the Vegas folk on this.

That being said, I think this one could get ugly in either direction.

Under Mullen, State was (a) favored against A&M just once, in 2014 (they won) and (b) never favored against LSU.

This is true.

First, you allowed yourselves to get outgained like 240-17 for about a 2 quarter stretch of the game. Then, you failed to take advantage of the holding and PIs that the refs let slide for you. Finally, you refused to take advantage of A&M's missed FG by making one of your own. Sure, you still probably would have lost on a last second A&M FG, but at least you'd had a chance.

Seems like a good number to me.

But I also thought Arkansas was a tougher matchup when looking at strengths vs weaknesses compared to A&M.

But they say Home field is worth 3 points.

LSU still owns State for the most part but the series has been fairly competitive since 2014. Especially considering State won a grand total of once between 1992 and 2013.

State is 5-5 against A&M since the Aggies joined the league, and State has won 4 of the last 6.

While what you are saying is true, I don't think its all that relevant to this week.

State has a good team. A&M has been winning these last 2 weeks, but still not playing well.

I honestly have no clue what to expect out of this game. My best bet is a war of attrition I think? Something close in the teens/low 20s?

Arkansas fans keep saying this like A&M played the perfect game. We made just as many mistakes to beat ourselves as Arkansas. If either team had half an offense, either team could have won by 2 touchdowns. Neither team has a vertical passing threat.

As a state fan I have come to expect us to play poorly anytime Vegas thinks highly of us. See LSU game 2022 for example

Im not touching this. Looks like Aggy is grinding it out with Max. Not pretty wins, but finding ways to win.

On paper, we match up much better with State. Our secondary is by far our biggest strength. We are weak against the run but good against the pass. On offense, our run game is our only hope.

I'm actually shocked that Arkansas didn't blow us away because it was the worst match-up imaginable. Having said all that, I would not be surprised if State blows us out this weekend despite being a better match-up.

We lost to App State, we can lose to every team in the SEC.

The key to victory is letting State stay on the field. Will A&M stop State when it’s 4th and short multiple times. A&M allows the other team to win time of possession a lot. They’re a bend but don’t break defense.

We have been really bad on 4th down this year. That is one of the reasons we lost to App State.

The stat I noticed from the A&M v Arkansas game was Time of Possession was virtually equal.

This is a huge improvement over the App State game.

No they aren’t. And neither is Miami.
