The one for 41 yards to Calvin-l think, was the longest completion I've seen him make. He used all he had and the receiver was in the right spot and made a great play in double coverage.

Was 2 out of 3 that day on those deep. He is leading the league in completion ratio.

He's young and lacks experience. I don't expect Young to be a Jr or SR. I expect him to make mistakes and not see the field. What I also expect is for players around him to take up the slack.

Like it or not, the MSU QB is in the same boat. You can demand all day that he be a JR or SR with a redshirt year and full of experience... But that's only going to come with......experience.

You are lucky that Leach has coaches that stick with him and knows what it takes to run this system or MSU would be in real trouble. You lost 2 games by what 4 points combined? You out played both teams. You even got screwed by refs...

What is up with the mentality of State fans over the past 2 to 3 years?

What are you talking about here?

It's a psychotic bunch like some other fanbases in this league. People want variable offense over a system marriage, but that's another conversation.

The 3 quarter lulls in offense are killing State and its the reason they lost Saturday. It's malfunction junction. Too many missed opportunities, and no urgency from the team until its too late. Part of the job of a qb is to recognize this and motivate.

Can't expect a inexperienced QB to be experienced.

That takes time and he will get there.

Outside of the 3 blown coverage passes for 40+ yards State shut LSU down. Your Stat is skewed.

Outside of 2 blown coverages by LSU, Miss State would have never had a chance. See how that works?

LSU came in with a defensive game plan to rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage and it worked for 3+ quarters. Whether it was the defense getting tired or State figuring something out.

Sure Rogers had 371 yds passing but it was on 62 attempts. That is 6yds/attempt, not very hot. On the other hand Johnson only had 280yds passing on 27 attempts for 10yds/attempt which is a much more respectable number.

When your offense is picking up 5-6yds/attempt you have to hit every pass, and missing one pass throws off an entire drive. The more plays that are run increases the chances for something bad to happen, i.e. a fumble on interception.

I don’t think we have the right QB and I agree with some of the other posters comments, but that’s an opinion. The larger thought is that I think Leach’s system CAN work, but it’s predicated on minimizing mistakes. We have failed there and that’s on the coaches. Leach’s lack of awareness is concerning because our room for error is basically zero and he seems clueless and more concerning, apathetic to the outcome. It’s not a good sign we lose the same way two weeks in a row although the o line had fewer penalties this time around. It’s sloppy football.

Add that Leach has had to start from scratch with a bunch of freshman last year after our star players like Kylin Hill opted out, we have a young team full of sophomores this year.

I’m not on the fire Leach wagon. It’s annoying that he appears to not care on the sideline but that’s his personality always has been. We are a few boneheaded mistakes from 4-0. These are fixable issues that come with a young team.

Positive things I see are that we don’t lay down. We have improved at blocking. We have cut down on the number of penalties but unfortunately we had one big penalty that cost us the LSU game.

I think there is good coaching being done. Leach has quirky game management that can be frustrating. But since this team is so young I’m willing to give him another year maybe 2 to see if he can turn them into something and develop players behind them. I don’t want to get into a habit of firing coaches every 2-3 years. Then you turn into Tennessee and nobody good will come coach for you

I’m still looking forward to that vaunted 3rd season that Ben Howland has had everywhere else he coached.

He went 25-12 in his 3rd season. That was the best season we had since Stansbury years

I’ve noticed state fans seem to forget we missed a FG that also ended up being the difference in the game

It was a chip shot too

Its classic Leach, people will fall for it again this year when he pulls an upset later in the year.

Given Leach’s track record at TTU and Washington (hell and now State), they’ll beat Alabama and then lose to Tennessee State.

Leach just isnt a good coach. I said it when Gamecock fans wanted him, and when State fans thought they got a good one. He wins a few but isnt going to get your program to a better place

Y'all hired him to say quirky things at post-game press conferences. He's doing his job.

The Mike Leach pattern (based on history at TTU and WSU):

Year 1: Unexplainable wins
Year 2: Unexplainable losses
Year 3: "Where did these guys come from?"

Hoping the third doesn't happen at State for obvious reasons, but there is a pattern.

I had to ask because Ruiz has always been really good. And It was not him kicking. Turns out he is injured and that is a walkon FG kicker that missed.

Is that right?

State's record has nothing to do with Mike Leach experiment.

The mistakes are like watching JH kids in a rainstorm. Players are 100% responsible for every outcome including Memphis.

How in the hell did State out play us.

We never trailed and State passing dinks and dunks were basically running plays.

Without dropped passes, we would have hung another 20 points on State.

Moorhead was a far better Coach and it shows.
