I agree, Gundy was great and taking less and doing more. But as several have mentioned, I think he got too complacent with his position and just drawing a paycheck. Everything someone did before NIL/Transfer portal will always be remembered and appreciated, but it does no one any good now. And I think that's where OSU found itself with Gundy. He is a legend of that program and should have a statue put on campus for him. But his time had come to move on. He's still young enough to get a fresh start somewhere else and I hope he does. I think this will ignite is competitive juices and we will see old Mike Gundy reappear maybe at a place like Florida to revive them. I think he'd be a great fit there.

Andy Staples replayed an interview with Gundy from big 12 media days

It was pretty damming. He asked Mike about the portal and NIL and Mike said they didn’t spend one dollar on the portal because he’s spent it all on retaining his players.

You see what that has gotten Dabo and him

Plus, you spent all your money to retain players on a 3-9 team??

No. He's a bad fit for Texas. He's had contentious relationships with his administration and donors. No way Gundy could thrive in the political environment in Austin. If it were just about the X's and O's, perhaps, but the Texas job requires a coach, CEO, and politician all in one body.

Yeah, big mistake, and if both he and Dabo don't change how they think, they both will be out of coaching permanently.

I could see FL and OKS swapping coaches. Think they'd both be a better at the other place

He just needs about a year to decompress. After that I think he'd miss it, be re-energized, and would be a hot commodity. If he still wants to coach, he won't stay unemployed for long.

I would not laugh at any team that hired Mike Gundy. I would be interested to see what develops.

How the mighty have fallen. Now you’re enamored with winning seasons instead of division or conference titles and you call that doing more with less.

Ok.

NIL era going to get many coaches fired even when it’s not their fault.

This is what everyone wanted. I do not feel sorry for them either.

Gundy wouldn’t adapt to NIL era with T Boone Pickens’ money and u want to hire him as next UF HC, he would do worse, his time has past, he will become a conservative news contributor

T Boone Pickens died in 2019. So did his contributions to OK St. His heirs told OK St “frick off, this money is ours”. OK St has been spending around $2.5 million on NIL per season, less than half of any SEC team. Most SEC teams pay their 2nd team guys more than OK St. pays their starters.

I think him, Lane, and USF's head coach are high on every Gator fans list..so we will get none of them..Scott will get an unproven coach our a FCS coach.

Yeah, I think the Pac12 wanted both schools. And both schools wanted it. And everyone got talked out of it by the same people who just finished off the Pac12.
