Alabama's new coach was an NFL coach.

Bama fans do not care who the new coach is, since Alabama will continue to win SEC and NC as usual. Maybe not at the same rate, but once or twice in a decade is fine.

Because the NFL and CFB are so similar to how they were 40+ years ago.

This is a bit misleading. There was a 13 year gap post Bryant until Stallings won in 1992, then a 17 year gap until Saban won in 2009. There was a decade after Stallings when the program was largely in the gutter due to NCAA sanctions and extremely poor coaching hires. Of course the NCAA sanctions had a lot to do with Bama being limited on which coaches wanted the job. So maybe 1 title in 30 years but 2 titles in 31 years.

You are incorrect. Ray Perkins took over when Bear retired. It was a struggle during that four years plus Auburn was on the upswing and Bo was there during that time frame.

Perkins did as good a job as possible following Bear.

The Coach that is hired now will still win but the Bama domination is over. 90% of their games over the last 15 years were won before the bus ever unloaded. Those days are over.

Win - Yes. But it will be much harder and different and there will be 8-4/9-3 seasons going forward and possibly even worse sprinkled in with the 10-12 win seasons.

1 title in 30 years until Saban? That's going to go over well.

The low IQ OP didn't put much thought into this thread before creating it.

What would you say Bama's competitive advantage has been over Saban's tenure? It's Saban. BDS is not a factor. Recruiting? That also was a product of Saban and the assistants he put together.

I fully expect Bama to be a threat over the next decade but there will be a falloff I would expect.

Looks like UGA and possibly Texas will be running the SEC for a bit.

Your math is off (I know math is hard for some people). 1980 -2008 (won NC in 1979 and 2009) is 29 years. So Alabama won 1 NC in that 29 year span. If you expand it to a 30 year span that Bama won 2 (1992 and either 1979 or 2009).

2 SEC titles and 1 national title from 1990-2008. 1 SEC title and 0 national titles from 1993-2008.

Bama fans would devour about 10 coaches if that happened again.
