This post might be wacked, but here goes nothing. Here is what one of the mods over at the rivals michigan site said last night:

quote:

Have heard from a reliable UGA source that Mark Richt is going to be in play if Georgia does not go to the SEC Championship, and likely win the thing. He's done a lot of good at UGA but he's never won the national title and hasn't won a conference title since 2005. This year, the Dawgs were poised to be the wildcard of the SEC, advancing through an easy SEC East to play in the conference title game and then win one game and make the playoff. Instead, UGA suffered a humiliating loss to Florida to drop to 4-2 in conference play, and needs Missouri to lose one of its last three (at A&M, at Tennessee, Arkansas) while Georgia has to avoid losing to Auburn just to make the SEC Championship.

Prominent boosters are ready to cut ties with Richt (this could be one of those decisions they don't realize how good they had it until he's gone), and I've been told that Richt doesn't want to stay in the SEC if this happens or taken a second-tier job in any conference. He'd want to go to a big program that does things the right way. As the UGA source noted, there is only one school out there that fits the description - Michigan.

Anyway, still lots of season left to be played but just wanted to share what I heard this week.

The only thing Michigan has on Georgia are academics, and that's not by a huge margin either.

No, but I'm not sure the move would say that. Sometimes everyone just needs a change of scenery.

CMR has stated several times, UGA will be his last job. This is a reach at best.

It could be. There are only a few quality teams in that conference. The schedule would be much easier. I think he is southern people so I don't see him going there unless he is pushed out at UGA.

Richt to Michigan. Sumlin to UGA. Muschamp to A&M. Mullin to UF. Tater Bowden to State.

All UGA had to do to win the East this year was show up. Instead their best player got kicked off the team and they got rolled by UF. If Richt ever leaves UGA for another job it will be after this year.
