Where is the TV money coming from if they go independent? Nobody will give them a long term TV deal. They will disappear

I don't disagree with any of that but the game is now about collecting brands like Pokemon. Nobody gives a rat's arse about UNC and Virginia football and they would only dilute the viewership numbers.
They care a lot about the basketball and baseball and culture fit still matters. They also have good followings in the Northeast in major metros and have a ton of political influence. UNC basketball brand alone I'd want as much as Miami football because the second Miami football goes back to the gutter, which it will, viewership absolutely disappears.
When LSU, Florida, Bama, and Texas aren't good, the huge fanbases still watch.

They are not a national brand lol. They may like to think they are but they absolutely are not.

If we thought the Big 12 teams weren't a culture fit, wait for Miami.
frick. That.
They are essentially LSU culture wise. They would fit in fine

You are too stupid to insult.

Would be a big mistake is went independent. Look at ND. Two quality games. The conferences voting on more games decided their fate. If they lose to Miami they may not make the playoffs

I don't understand why they would want to change the status quo for themselves. They're a lock to make the playoff every year.
You can lose 3 maybe even 4 games in the big 2 conferences starting next year and still make the playoffs
For Miami its a money decision

The team I would love to get and would be a great addition would be Nebraska. They still have a national presence (not as strong as 90’s) and they are due for a resurgence.
Too bad no one is leaving SEC or B1G for the other

True. Miami always struck me as the kind of program that functions better as a big fish in a little pool than being with peers.
It might not be the best fit but South Florida is a huge football hotbed. I think it'd be a mistake to hand that exposure to the Big Ten. They're a good basketball school and traditionally good at baseball.

Hell, why not just let EVERYONE into the SEC at this point. Sankey could make us expand the conference schedule to 12 teams.
On a truly serious note, the SEC already has at least four teams too many. Problem in thinning it down is that among the non-charter members, I actually like SC, Arky, and A&M in the conference, but one of them would have to join Texas, OU, and Mizzou in the exodus. (And, to be honest, I don't really hate Mizzou like I used to. They've been assimilating a bit better lately. As far as OU goes - at least they DO serve sweet tea by default in Oklahoma, which is more than I can say for Texas.)

Miami president calling the ACC second-tier when they have never won it.
All of this, 10 months after the ACC gave miami a playoff bid over their conference champion and didn't require them to share a dime of their CFP money.

Not sure but I think UF and the SEC made an agreement not to and Miami or FSU.
I personally think they should add UCF or USF...very huge marketplaces in Tampa and Orlando. Or do we already have that marketplace so no point?

UF = Tampa and Orlando markets easily and some of SFL too (especially Palm Bch County).

Why the frick would we allow UCF or USF into the conference? Bringing AAC teams in now with little following?
This whole Miami thing is a joke anyway. They’re not the “national” brand they think they are. They don’t have a solid fan base. They have “swag” when they’re good and that’s it. No one goes to their games.

They don't have a preference. He is just making a case for which either will accept them.
