Miami is a weird private school without their own football stadium and bandwagon trashdick fans that only like or show up to any of their sports when they're good because their actual alumni don't give a shite about sports

There was a small group of Miami alums who I golfed with a few times back in the '90s who simply loathed the Thug U brand that Miami embraced so deliberately back in their glory days. They were dead in the center of NCAAF fan demographics and they wanted their own program shut down. Cristobal seems very different though, and those dudes may well be back on the bus.

Another little oddity is that lots of the South American political dynasties send their kids to Miami. Lots of students with bodyguards.

Miami’s student enrollment is ~25% Jewish. A lot of people don’t know that. Miami will be fine.

I know we exaggerate about cultural fit, but you do not want Miami fans crawling from sewers to visit your towns

hard pass

I don't really know what Miami would bring to the SEC.

They’re the most important college football brand when it comes to pop culture. They’re a national draw when it comes to ratings. They’re located in one of the best recruiting markets in the country. They’re a high end academic institution. And, they’re back to winning. Oh, and most SEC fans would love to have a weekend in Miami versus Starkville or even Austin.

I really think Miami goes Big 10 and then the Big 10 gets ND because then the Big 10 will have all of ND’s rivals and they would have leverage over ND.

I'm with you here. If Miami is leaving the ACC, the SEC should get them for every reason mentioned here.

A lot of SEC fans are stuck in the past. Miami isn’t the Miami of the 70s and 80s. The city is a juggernaut now. The most international city in the USA, and Coral Gables where the University of Miami is located is one of the richest neighborhoods in the country.

If the SEC wants some of these other universities over Miami it’s due to a lack of vision.

They don't want any SEC smoke unless they enjoy 8-4 seasons being a really good one for them. If they did not play a ACC schedule they wouldn't be deep enough to make the 12 team playoff and will only do so occasionally when it expands to 24.

I tend to agree with this, do yall realize that they STILL have never actually won an ACC championship?

A conference championship means nothing. We might not even have an SEC championship after this season. Catch up to 2026.

What? I swear I don’t even think you watch college football I think you just tune into finebaum and parrot. Miami was the most athletic team in cfb last year and had the best ol/dl combo. They played 16 games 8 against the acc and went 6-2, they played 8 non acc games Bethune cookman, usf, uf, nd, atm, ole miss, Ohio st, and Indiana they went 7-1 against them. It’s a good story but theres not a lot of actual truth to it

The SEC and Big 10 will pull teams from the ACC like lions pull prey from the herd. SEC will grab Virginia, UNC and Florida State. Big 10 will grab Miami and Clemson.
