At issue, according to sources, is whether Michigan used unnamed individuals to attend games of both scheduled opponents and possible College Football Playoff opponents in an effort to gather information on the signs they use to call both offensive and defensive plays.

Is this illegal? if I was a coach, i would expect the other team to do this.. I would do this myself on other teams (assuming it isn’t illegal) but either way, I wouldn’t trust that my opponent was going to play by the rules.

It’s very likely this is the reason they destroy their opponents.. and also very likely why TCU destroyed them.

There was a rumor last year that TCU knew our plays.. and if that was true.. then there is a good chance they changed their plays knowing other teams might be doing it also..

And if that happened, then it’s likely Michigan got fooled on some play calls or didn’t know them..

I think a lot of us are confused as to why this is cheating.

Just sounds like scouting

Bc the NCAA banned in person scouting back in 1994.

Michigan allegedly had people attending games of future opponents as well as possible College Football Playoff opponents to gather information on signs used to call plays on offense and defense.

If true, the No. 2 Wolverines would have violated NCAA Bylaw 11.6.1, which states: "Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited."

Michigan still is facing four Level II violations, which are considered less serious, from those alleged violations. That ruling from the NCAA is not expected until 2024.

It’s only a matter of time before the NCAA hammers Harbaugh. It’s obvious they don’t like him and now he is caught cheating again after there’s still another investigation going on for Level II violations.

A pristine big ten program accused of doing a no-no. What is the world coming to??

The NCAA is going to bust an SEC or big 12 program hard for for Michigan doing this.

Am I weird for not having a problem with this?

No. You should change signs for every game, use the huddle, wristband, or go to helmet mics.

If an opponent can figure out what signs are live as opposed to dummies, correlate them with plays run, and successfully apply it to the next game, that’s on you.

You posted their schedule and it does look tough.

Now tell me how many of those teams will be losing their starting QB.

Then multiple sets of eyes around the stadium could feed info to the players through their headset, couldn't they? We should try to stop cheating, but I think the cheating will be on steroids with a multiplier like technology.

They could fix it for good though if they allowed headsets in QB and Def players helmets. Like the NFL

It’s asinine that this isn’t allowed.

It isn’t 1993….this isn’t cutting edge technology

People on this board are outraged because other teams cheat....yet they have no problem when their WR holds a ball up as if they caught it when they know it bounced on the turf...or a defensive players takes a ball away from their opponent at the bottom of a pile like there was a fumble. Football is one sport in which the players cheat on almost every play and then scream that the other team cheated.

Holding calls, flopping, going down as if injured well after a play is over and it goes on and on and on...
