Genuinely curious to see who this rant would take as a HC.

I’m guessing more people would say Pete because he’s had a little more success as a coordinator but people forget OM put Matt behind the 8 ball by giving him that job during their sanctioned era. And correct me if I’m wrong, but Matt never had any off the field problems that Pete did.

Obviously, OM people would take Whiskey Pete over Sean Mcvay right now so I have to take their opinions with a grain of salt.

Golding just took over a very difficult situation and won 2 playoff games. Why would anyone not choose him in this instance?

Why are you bothering to troll Ole Miss?

Why do they have enough real estate in your head to even invest this minimal energy.?

You don’t think Matt Luke couldn’t win those games with Charlie Weis Jr calling plays?

And I’ll give Pete credit for 1 playoff win. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills with everyone giving him credit for beating freaking Tulane. I could’ve coached them to a win that day.

No trolling. I think it’s a legit argument at this point

I was asking a genuine question. Golding might be the wrong answer. But, that's the way I see it.

1 or 2 years before OM made Matt Luke the head coach he interviewed at Troy for their head coaching vacancy. It later leaked that their AD said 'He's not quite ready to be a head coach yet.' I'll remind you that Troy plays in the Sun Belt. We hired him and decided to pay him $3 million+ when he would've taken the job for $1.5 mil a year. Where the frick else was he gonna go coach and make that kind of money ?! That's what really pissed me off at the time.

Why didn’t a sun belt school come knocking Pete Goldings doors down then if he’s so much better?

Matt Luke is a good dude and was a great player for OM.

But as a head coach? frick him and anyone that ever supported him being our HC.

The only positive thing he did for us was getting fired which led to us getting Kiffin

Golding, I’d take the seasoned DC who was under Saban for 3 years over the OL coach who’s only reference was Coach Cutcliffe.

Because he has only coached 2 games. He has never run a program and all that comes with it. Versus a guy who has run a program. Not saying who I would pick, just saying that would be a argument as to why not Golding.

Nah I’d rather stay in the comforts of my own home than getting dizzy from all the traffic circles and getting hounded by frat boys with 2 first names all day

Yeah I’d take Pete. I’d also take a hot dog over a bologna sandwich.

Luke, while I appreciate him as a player, was a bad and lazy OL coach. When he worked under Coach O as an OL coach, he quit because he didn't want to recruit. He was only given the HC job due to politics.

Hey, it worked out pretty well last time with Kiffin after the Saban Rehab stint.

#1 you make more money as a SEC coordinator than you do as G5 HC. Kane Wommack made the jump. It is easier to get an SEC job as a SEC coordinator than G5 coach. Too much variance in the portal and rosters in G5 to stay consistent right now.

Pete has a ring as a coordinator. Many years under Saban. Has been HC of the defense the last couple of years. He is a football guy not a character much like Elko. Hires good people and lets do them their job.

Luke should never have been hired. Our idiot AD who continues to fail upwards allowed the Oxford power brokers talk him into Luke because they wanted access and Luke would give them that. Luke was in over his head from the start. He also made deals with the 2 coordinators that he would keep them if they stayed for the interim year and they were both not good.

This is an apples or race cars comparison.

He hires good people and lets them do their job? Any evidence of that yet? He’s been a head coach for 4 months.

I would slow down on the Elko comparisons. Pete would be very lucky to have half the success Elko has had so far
