And Oklahoma’s has best defense
Not arguing against the statement, but I am curious how much of that is competition to date.
Here's their schedule so far, and scoring offense national rankings:
Illinois State - FCS
Michigan - 70th
Temple - 44th
Auburn - 95th
Kent State - 127th
Texas - 80th
South Carolina - 115th
None of this is me trying to say Oklahoma's defense actually sucks, but Ole Miss (16th) will be, by a fairly significant margin, the best offense Oklahoma's played all year.
This will be the first legitimate test for OU's defense to prove if they are a GOOD defense or a GREAT defense.
This. OU mostly got their reputation off of the Auburn game defensively and Auburn is a terrible O who a week later had even bigger struggles against A&M. Arch didn't have much trouble against OU and outside of Sam Houston that's the only team he has done that against.
That doesn't mean they suck but it's more than a "tap the brakes" on crowning their defense an elite unit. They have Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, and Missouri coming up and all of them are better offenses than any team they have played so far. LSU is not as they win with their D. If OU can stop those teams I'm happy to give their D credit. They did a nice job on South Carolina in Columbia but so did South Carolina State. It will all come out in the wash soon enough.

I hope Oklahoma defense can control Ole Miss offense.

It's not like our defense sucked last year, and it's all the same guys with upgrades at the CB positions. To act like they haven't been tested before is laughable. They're a veteran unit from front to back and faced these same teams last year.

Do you post about anything other than Ole Miss losing?

Hm...I guess now that you mention it, the QB is an important position. Good analysis.

Y’all lost to FSU…explain that one. Not only lost but also got manhandled like a cuck boy.

Yup. So, your Rebs should hang half a hundred on this defense. Right?
Yes.

Mateer has been extremely unimpressive this year
Posted on 10/23/25 at 11:53 am to narddogg81
He started the year on fire, but the injury is definitely still effecting him. That, plus the rain, plus Oklahoma's defense, could lead to a 20-17 type game.

I haven’t watched him this year but so many people on this site post as if he’s an elite quarterback and has just been injured for a few games.
Their SOS is pretty bad so is this just a product of going up against awful defenses?

Illinois State is trash so I'm not going to even bother looking at stats from that game.
Michigan seems like a decent win. His passing stats were pretty meh 21-34 270yards 1TD 1INT. He carried the ball 19 times for 74 yards(3.8 YPC) but the 2TDs are nice. Admittedly I didn't watch the game so there might be some hidden storyline that the stats don't tell but all this tells me is that he's an OK passer and ran the ball a ton.
Temple, Auburn, and Kent State are collected *handwank gestures*. His stats were obviously meh against auburn because of his injury.....but it's insane that he was allowed to play out that game with a broken bone in his throwing hand.
Nothing is standing out to me other than hype so far and everyone's hope is that he's finally healthy.

We haven't gone up against "awful defenses". Ole Miss has the weakest defense we've gone up against so far in P4.
Ole Miss sure has gone up against awful defenses tho.
Ole Miss sure has gone up against awful defenses tho.

Are you really arguing that you haven't played a single awful defense yet?

Not a single person is arguing otherwise.

Is that what I said?
Or did you unskillfully and intentionally leave out the rest of my comment?

did you unskillfully and intentionally leave out the rest of my comment you initially responded to? Because the context of that comment is pretty important.

You left this part out. I was clearly talking about P4 opponents we've played, obviously not Temple. Keep up.....
