I go Jimbo for now. He has a title.

Smart and Mullen are 3-4 though. Smart only two years in and started at Georgia. Not comparable to starting at Miss State.

Anyone claiming he hasn't won big games...every gmae in the SEC West he had less talent and less resources. It's the worst program. So every win was impressive.

This seems premature but it’s nice that he’s in the conversation.

He took over a really bad Mississippi State program when the SEC West was at the absolute height of its powers with three or four powerhouse teams and made them into a respectable football program without cheating or taking any shortcuts.

Well he/program did get caught cheating. A couple of times. And look at actuall accomplishments. Most involves a horrid ooc schedule and feasting on the bottom of the sec during each season to reach it.

High praise from the LSU grad

Spears is turning into quite the anti-LSU cuck these days. Oh an Mullens record in big games says otherwise.

Nobody... I mean nobody coaches a better 4-4 conference record team.

That is all Mullen.

Bill Snyder did the exact same thing at Kansas State and CFB fans treat him like he was the greatest miracle worker since Elijah from the Bible. It's really hard to win at Mississippi State. It's even more difficult to win being in the same division with three programs that made multiple NCG appearances (Auburn, Bama, LSU) over a five-year period. Yet Mullen was still able to win at Mississippi State. That speaks volumes to how good of a coach he is.

But did he beat any of those teams when they were good? How can it speak volumes if he didnt really win any games of merit in that division.

Answered it in a more relevant fashion, but to your point, yes it is possible to win big games coaching at state. Mullen just didnt do very much of it (aside from 2014)

In 2014 they came to LSU and beat #8 ranked tigers, Then #6 A&M, then #2 Auburn. Ended up losing 3 on the season and losing the Orange bowl.

I like Marcus, but he has proven time and time again that he will say whatever stirs the pot the most like his buddy Finebaum. I seriously think Finebaum has a terminal illness and Marcus is taking over the show.

What he did is as impressive as anyone else not named Saban.

Maybe Fisher becuase of a title Id put at two.

He took a program that is every bit as bad as UK or Vandy, and made it relevant in the toughest division in CFB. Every conference game he faced tougher competition with schools with more advantages in the West.

Getting Miss State to number one is one of the more impressive achievements a coach has made in the SEC recently. That is remarkable. Denying that is beyond ridiculous.

Stoops gets credit for one very strong showing for half a season at UK...Mullen did this multiple years at State. Every bit as bad of a program. Actually better. Considering they are the last non Big Six to win an Sec title.

Right now it’s tough to say who is the second best head coach in the SEC . A lot of the top ones are new to their current team . He is atleast the second best head coach in the east.

You actually didn't. You deflected.

Anyway, what coach at MSU has consistently won big games?

Why did you use the laughing emoticon by the way?
