College Football Hall of Fame coach Nick Saban says LSU, not Alabama, was the easiest program to recruit players to during his college football career.

Saban said in a Friday appearance on ESPN's Pat McAfee Show he learned while working with Bill Belichick on the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff in the '90s Louisiana produced the most NFL players per capita of any U.S. state.

"That's the reason I took the job," Saban said about joining LSU as head coach ahead of the 2000 season.

quote:

Saban continued, "Let me tell you what— it was right. It was 15 to 18 really, really good football players that you could get out of Louisiana every year, and you've got a good enough national reputation to recruit some really good players from other places.

quote:

"That was about the easiest place I ever had to recruit to."

At Michigan State he had to compete with Michigan for in-state players.

At Alabama he had to compete with Auburn for in-state players.

Of course it was easier to recruit at LSU.

He had no competition.

This. Things like this. This is why I can’t see Lane ever losing a game at LSU. Ever.

It’s easy to win at LSU. Water is wet.

And yet Lane is notorious for finding a way to frick it up.

*used to be the case. Now Louisiana is open season, e.g. Manning and Easton Royal

Trash like this is why ex-LSU HC, Nick Saban, barely even talks about Alabama anymore.

Yet he won all those titles in Tuscaloosa and continues to invest in the local community through the Saban Center. Must suck

Saban could have returned to Baton Rouge after Miles was fired.

Why did he stay?

Saban is fricking with Kiffin by building expectations.

I don't recall LSU losing a game. The only time the come up short on the scoreboard is when they've cheated by the refs.

No, it didn't always used to be the case. For a large majority of its history, Louisiana natives didn't want to play for LSU because, you know, they were LSU and horrible.

Reggie Bush was not an outlier. Louisiana kids fled from Louisiana for decades and decades and wanted to get as far away from LSU as they possibly could.

Of course, Saban changed that .

This low IQ Boomer thinks Reggie Bush is a Louisiana native.

See I don’t get mad about these comments like some Bama fans do or NFLSU tries to rub in our face. It’s true, Alabama has Auburn to compete against in state which is a top 15-20 program all time. LSU has nobody.

If anything this would utterly chap my arse if I was an LSU fan that Saban didn’t stay

And yet Alabama despite that has accomplished a lot more.

Don’t forget the weather, an 11am kickoff, “If,” and other delusional, dumbass L3u fan excuses.
