what would be interesting is if a school like Texas hired an independent scouting department for Gus and managed the roster for him. With all the money in college football its kinda stupid this has not already happened somewhere.

Malzahn would never agree to something like that.

Considering Texas thinks they and the Big 12 are the pinnacle of college football, they sure do love trying to get themselves some SEC coaches.

To be fair, almost every Texas fan agrees that the Big 12 is wet dogshit. However, some people still act like Vince crossing the goalline was only a matter of months ago

From this Texas fan's perspective:

Herman will have to do a lot worse than just losing to TCU to get fired this year during a global pandemic. Not making excuses for him - he's had more than his fair share of embarrassing performances. Just thinking practically here.

Fans love to attach to Urban b/c he's currently not coaching anybody and a small faction, unfortunately, still think this is 2013 in the sense that "we have more money than anybody, OF COURSE someone like Saban is gonna drop everything and move here at the first chance." Those people are detached from reality.

Honestly, Texas will probably never go for Urban Meyer or anybody that has any sort of dirt in their past known by many. Texas still takes pride in their "prestige" and "morals" and will justify not hiring Urban because they think they're above that. "We're not just a football school, we're more than that."

^^^I honestly don't give a shite about any of that, I want to win, but knowing Texas and their administration over the past 9-10 years, they'd probably step on their own dicks before landing Urban even if they tried.

Also, other than maybe Mike Gundy, I don't know if there would be anybody in the country other than Gary Patterson that would take more delight in being offered the Texas job just so he could publicly tell them to frick off. TCU already pays him $4.75 million per year (only reported and not verified, b/c it's a private school) and it's certainly not like Texas has stood in his way to get shite done at his current school.

They have short memories then. Not too long ago, you had "Book 'em Horns" under Mack Brown.

[/quote]Gus runs his own shite and he has the AU BOT by the short hairs. He and Jimmy Sexton bent them over and raped them for that $49MM guaranteed contact in '17 and now they're stuck with him.

Could you imagine?

If Gus came to Texas, the RRS game against OU would routinely be a 70something to 60something affair.

Texas will end up with another "up-and-comer" who has "values" and will continue to lose 4 games a year until they hit the reset button after year 4 or 5. Rinse and repeat.

Now Gus fits those qualifications to a tee. He is a good man with high character and morals. He runs a clean program, his players stay out of trouble, he stays clear of the NCAA and he graduates his players. And he consistently loses 4 games a year.

I don’t follow... Gus is going to get let go at Auburn at some point because their offense sucks under him and has for a while. The only thing that has saved him up to this point has been defense (and the buyout).

Are you under the impression that Gus is some offensive wizard or something? That ship sailed years ago.

I love that they think they can take Mullen.

The other names are reasonable. Florida can match money wise and is somehow more realistic in expectation..which is saying something

I thought he would do well there.

I always thought Texas talent wasn’t better than anywhere else just a bigger geography and more numbers. Now I’m beginning to think it may actually be farther in quality ratio comparted to other fertile recruiting areas than we thought. On field results point to that.

It's just not Texas. See OU (Texas based talent) and I don't mean this year. They have been good and well coached for years, but they can't even compete vs the truly elite.

We at South Carolina would be happy to offer up Muschamp for either Herman or Malzhan should they be available. Note he doesn't have to be your head coach. He'd be great at cleaning toilets or filling a photo copier machine.
