South Carolina had not problem do the exact same thing last year.
They weren't trying to avoid playing the game though. That's the difference with Florida.

No way LSU would run from a game.

Well that's what they're reporting LSU didn't want to pay the 1.5 million to South Alabama but why should Florida lose the millions on losing a home game.

So Florida didn't want to play the game in Baton Rouge three years in a row and LSU fans are pissed for some reason?
The LSU fan base is the most delusional and irrational fan base in the entire conference.

It will be entertaining to hear how UF tries to slant this one!
They are spinning hard.
No one is buying it though.

they were losing that game regardless. that game was NEVER going to be played there. LSU wnet above and beyond to help florida but FL stalled and knew this would happen

So LSU should pay So Alabama $1.5M AND "lose the millions on losing a home game"? Oh AND play 3 straight road games AND play A&M the following Thursday. Seems completely reasonable.

I call BS on the lodging in BR, still all booked due to the floods.
No, it's not. Those that could move back in, which is probably the majority, have already done so. I had my family back in the house 9 days after the flood. We're roughing it but we are able to stay at home and so are a lot of people.

Interesting... South Carolina did it with no issue.... Location changed 2.5 days before the game.
and got a check from the LSU students to boot.

Did you read the part about Baton Rouge or GAINSVILLE?
You inbred frick.

I would have agreed to this.
As long as it meant next year's game would be played in Gainesville.
And we would have agreed to this if your oussy arse athletic director would have moved the game in a reasonable time to sell tickets and get the game read in Baton Rouge.

Look, I totally get the situation about being worried about family and everything in Florida. I don't think any LSU fan is not sympathetic to that side of things.
But let's be real...and maybe I'm completely in the minority....but if a hurricane was headed straight for me and I had the option to be flown out of the state (UF football team)...would there be any family member or friend that wouldn't want you to take that opportunity and GTFO of danger?

Anyone who tries to spin it as anything other than UF taking advantage of a bad situation to avoiding a possible loss is either lying or naïve.
They acted in their own interest to LSU's detriment. Now we just have to hope something contractually binds them to offsetting that detriment (at least financially).
frick UF, their AD, and the SEC for allowing this travesty.

Such as? And don't give me Baton Rouge. What other stadiums in Florida could have been utilized on such short notice?
Pretty sure they could have gotten FSU or Ole Miss ready in time. They also could have secured a deal with the Georgia Dome that required Ga State to start at noon. That option has been on the table for UGA/SC all week

You mean the game that everyone knew fricking yesterday wouldn't be played in Florida?
How about this afternoon right before this decision was made when LSU was STILL offering to host? Did Florida think they were going to be giving up these millions then?
GTFO, guy

A Category 4/5 storm is barreling down on the coast of Florida and you think Gainesville will be ready by Sunday or Monday?
You are more delusional than I thought.
This is exactly why LSU fans were saying from day 1 that the game should be moved. UF refused, so we were stuck with Gainesville on one of those days. The only people who actually believed the city would be ready that soon was Florida.

And every other fan base calling LSU pussies and saying we only wanted a home game
