been to quite a few games there as I brought customers for work. only fights i ever saw was them against themselves.
only once did I get words thrown my way, that was for my bitch fest when they stopped selling beer with 2 mins left in the third quarter of the TCU game in 2014. co worker was a TCU alum with the biggest mouth and they left him alone

Stop here here on your way for a quick 101 on proper couch burning if you want to blend in. Only the WV faithful can rival us.

The night Tubs turned off the heaters on the sideline.

Pace yourself on their moonshine. Also, I highly recommend going white water rafting while you're there.

Morgantown is pretty cool. It's different.
Agree with another poster who said that it is kinda hard to get there. Our bus actually broke down on the way from DC and we had to hitch hike the rest of the way. Not kidding.
I thought the atmosphere in the stadium was awesome. Right before the Mo Claiborne kickoff return, I was looking around thinking how awesome it was. If he doesn't return that kick for a TD, LSU probably wins by a lot smaller of a margin.
Can't tell you much about the nightlife. Some of the girls were pretty hot.

I've been whitewater rafting in Beckley, WV on the New and Gauley Rivers. Best whitewater rafting in the country during the Fall season. Very scenic. Honestly reminds me of the Ozark Mountains in SW Missouri

Morgantown was ok, sort of backwoods. Fans were ok at best before, absolutely brutal after.
They serve alcohol in stadium so that alone is enough reason to go.

West Virginia is the worst state I have ever been to. It's not the people are terrible or worse than any other state it's just like every where is similar to Livingston Parish.

So here is my story of events at Morgantown during the LSU vs. WV game in 2011
Tailgating - Set up with my friend's friends who attended undergrad there. Very nice people and enjoyed company. WARNING - Pace yourself with moonshine. I tried two versions they brought, peach and cherry, and they were good (Cherry was amazing). My best friend proceeded to intake too much, and then things escalated after he slapped someone in the face. I was fortunate to have his friend take care of him to try and sober up some (unsuccessfully). I apologized for his behavior and calmed the situation.
Route to Stadium - At this point I grabbed my drunk friend to hit the porta johns then head into the stadium. I stopped to talk to some LSU fans and turned around to find him gone. Unfortunately he had BOTH our tickets (one lesson you learn after the only time it happens).
Tailgating during the game - Since my drunk friend was MIA after searching the stadium entrance and all over, I walked to our tailgate, grabbed an ice chest of beer to find the game on TV with WV fans tailgating. One guy was giving me crap, but I just let him talk (Side note I was wearing my P&G Sombrero and Corn Dog Nation shirt). Another fan at the tailgate started yelling at the guy complaining about their rep, and they came to blows. The guy starting it was thrown out of their tailgate. I gave the guy a beer, I then watched the game in peace and had a good time considering.
After Game - I left the tailgate headed to our friends only to find my drunk friend about to get in a fight with a WV guy who says he's from Louisiana and loves JAMbalaya (seemed justified?). I coral him and get to our tailgate. After arriving multiple people walking out threatened us to get the f out of dodge. I was approached by an older gent saying he was going to fight me and my friend if we don't leave. Not wanting to cause trouble for our new tailgate friends, I coral my drunk friend and drag him bear claw style all the way to the car losing my Costas in the process (my contribution to WV). Luckily no escalation on the way but had close calls.
Summary - Had an experience and story I will tell for a lifetime. There are some nice people (a lot people there from New Jersey surprisingly) and some bad eggs like any place. I have been to several other places and would recommend them over Morgantown, though it is better than Oxford.
Where was drunk friend after losing him with our tickets? - He proceeded to walk the opposite way to the hospital on the other side of the tailgating parking lot and gave his ticket to a police officer at the entrance to the hospital. Cop pointed opposite direction and said "Stadium is that way."

a few Mizzou fans are actually planning to go to the game.
If you just walk around the blue lot and tell as many WVU fans as you can "Eat shite Pitt", you will be fed and drank to death.

Watch out for burning couches. Those people are hostile as frick.

Can't speak for them in Morgantown, but a lot of the ones who came to Auburn in '09 were fricking horrid. Their idea of trash talking was screaming roll tide before the game. After the game, the were much less friendly. I guess getting washed out of the stadium in the second half didn't sit well.

Not an LSU fan but their fans are the worst in the world. Miami fans are awesome in comparison.
And the state of WV as a whole is shite too.
