May be nothing, but I have the same feeling I had when Saban went to Bama in 06. Let me start by saying Kiffin wasn’t even my first choice. I wanted us to go after Heupol. However I would like to add some context to your statement.

He left Tennessee because at the time USC was a ten times more desirable job.

USC was hit with crippling NCAA sanctions as soon as Kiffin got there. No one was going to coach them out of that mess but he still managed a couple decent seasons.

Al Davis immediately sabotaged Kiffin by forcing him to draft Russel. The Raiders front office was a shite show while he was there and with Davis’s meddling no one was going to successfully coach that team.

He didn’t really do anything much wrong leaving OL Piss. Other teams offered him jobs. They were both better more desirable jobs. Anyone with half a brain knew he was going to take one of them. But he also wanted to finish the year out with his players. Nothing wrong with wanting to do that even though in reality it wasn’t very realistic. He tried to walk the line of not accepting the OL Miss extension, not accepting either of the other school’s offers in hopes of being able to finish the season first. Of OL Miss had never made an ultimatum then he would have made LSU and Florida wait on an answer until after the season. And it’s not like it was going to hold up OL Miss from looking for another coach seeing as how they just immediately gave it to Golding. They could have still done that after the season was over. They over reacted and caused most of the circus of the past few days.
