Buotte had announced he was not entering the draft and was returning to LSU. Then after Buotte and a staffer were sent home from Atlanta he changed his mind and announced he was entering the draft and the staffer was fired. Probably just a coincidence.

The fact they dropped charges does not change the fact it was confirmed he placed the bets, including betting on LSU, when he was a player.
Some LSU fans here love to try to ridicule Alabama over the Bohannon betting scandal. But it doesn’t have much effect because they have to get in line behind Alabama fans to ridicule him. Nobody despises Bohannon more than Alabama fans.
But when someone brings up the Boutte gambling scandal, LSU fans circle the wagons and defend him.
The vastly different reactions are strange.

The “children’s hospital scandal” was a dumb booster telling his friends “I run a charity, send your bagman money here and get a tax deduction”. Now bribing people for pay to play is completely legal, but everyone still clutching pearls.
